Below are some of the component that contribute toward faster swimming.
Good Kicking, Streamline Body, good sense of rhythm are some examples. In any swimming activities, it's always good to have a few combination of kick sets, swim sets and drill sets. Here is a 1000m Swim workout that I drafted.

200 easy swim (Warm up)

2 X 100 with 1 min rest between set

4 X 50 -25m Fast/ 25m Slow

200 Easy Swim

2min rest

100 Hard @ 2.15~ 3min (Your best effort)

100 easy (Warm Down)

Estimated Total Swim time: 36min.

The above workout recommend Freestyle stroke for training. Have fun. Please consult a doctor if you have not been exercising for a long time or above 50 year old. Some safety precaution are necessary and make swimming a fun journey. At any point of time if you are tired or could not complete the set, it's ok. Take a break. Please take care.

Is it healthier to wear long-sleeve swimwear to cover more parts of the body against the sun? I see more people wearing like that in pools nowadays.

Too much sun exposure is bad for skin.

Definitely. Also don't need to use sunscreen which may not be good to the skin depends on the chemicals. The swimwear provides better protection compared to sunscreen as well.

No wonder more people wearing long-sleeve swimwear nowadays. Do you recommend wearing leggings to cover up legs as well?

if you swim often and during period when the sunlight is strong, I think it's a good idea because your legs need protection too.

However, I only wear the tops as I chose to apply sunscreen on my legs as it is easier compared to trying to cover my back with sunscreen. I also try not to look too 'outstanding' compared to the rest lol. Nowadays I swim mostly at night so I don't have to worry about the harmful uv ray.

ONe more advantage to wearing long-sleeve and leggings is that they sort of protect from the coldness when initially dipping into the water. Water is cold during the night.

yes especially during cold weather. Also good against the wind when you are out of the pool.

Had a very bad experience with it. Someone shitted in the pool. It is usually very crowded when I went there. I can't remember the price anymore. Should be standard across the board. Around $1.50

They did clean. Singapore-run pools have minimum standard to adhere to.

I was told to get out of the pool. When I asked why, the staff whispered someone shitted. I seldom go to that pool (Toa Payoh) afterwards.
