Hi. May I know the charges and number of students in the class? Also, will you be conducting classes at other places and times? What stroke is this Total Immersion class? I am afraid of water, so how do I start? Thank you.

The fee for this class is $60 for 4 lessons. Total immersion is about swimming smoothly and relaxing and the stroke that I am teaching is breast stroke and front crawl (Free style).
We can talk and discuss about the place and location if you are keen. Let me know again. Thanks and have a good weekend.

Hi guys, recently got into swimming. I just swam 50 laps that day (breast stroke) but took nearly 1.5 hrs! Darn slow. Hopefully can pick up some tips here. Anyone can tell me whats their average time?

Hello threadstarter,

Do you teach primary school student, age about 8 years old ?

I intend to let my son learn swimming after Chinese New Year, location wise, best to be at Sengkang swimming complex

How much do you charge as well ? What's the duration like ? How long to complete the course ?

Will wait for your advice soon

I provide swimming lesson for both kid and adult. The course fee varies according to class size. Min 3 students to form a group and each will pay $80 per 4 lesson of 60 mins. Student in smaller group will tend to have more practical hand on training and likely to progress faster. Do consider. :)

Hi gutianleong,
Swimming breast stroke requires gliding and if you can glide in your swim, you save effort and time. In breast stroke, the gliding come in after you finish your frog kick with your leg straight and close together, your face looking downward and forward blowing bubbles and your arm straighten with locked elbow. This is the prone glide position and is often referred to as the base position. Hope this help. :)

Hi, thanks for the advice. Managed to cut 15 mins recently by kicking harder and using more force. I guess its the limit for breaststroke? I dun think there is a problem with my technique. Maybe I shld learn freestyle...

So long you glide well in your breast stroke, it can give you added distance and you save energy too. Not a bad deal afterall huh. :)

Wishing all a rewarding and bountiful 2011.

Hi guys, anyone know where to get swimming trunks/shorts that let the sun through? I get hideous tan lines now after swimming. Thanks!

there are lots of swimwear that is designed to cut off UV light. You want something that let's in UV light, well, that is a market segment that is ignored. You should give skin cancer products a try.

I need to improve on my strokes too, after reviewing a video of me swimming I realise I am too wasteful and not very streamline in the water:o

Swim paddles help too, if your technique is bad, you will feel your paddle kenna pulled out of your hands by the water flow. And swim paddle trains your strength a lot too. I swim free style with paddles. But without paddles, my butterfly timing cut by about 2s despite my stroke technique staying as mediocre as before.

Right body posture help you find your balancing spot and you will get there. Best is get the basic right and move on from there. :)

Swimming is about your ability to coordinate your arm, leg and breathing and syn them together. Perfect execution of the stroke at the right time help to deliver max output. There should be a glide in all swimming stroke whether is breast stroke, frontcrawl, fly or even back crawl.

In Front Crawl, the rolling of the right hip and right shoulder move together like a log. That was the usual term you often heard... "roll like a log".
