I just bought my Taiwan 5 days SIM card from Qoo10 too at $10.30. Wanted to buy from klook but I lazy to look for the counter at airport and queue up for collection.

But recipient dont have smart phone, so cannot use whatsapp call...

(1) buy calling card, use hotel landline.
(1a) buy calling card and use own phone(taiwan sim) call charges
(2) buy a sim that allows u to call international, it is usuall $1 per minute excluding flag fee

Wifi router is good for a group of ppl, 3-4ppl no problem. But if your group is going to split when shopping or other, then wifi router may not be that useful. Either get 2 wifi router or 1 wifi router + 1 sim card, depend on your group.

KK day and changi recommend wifi router are good.
