have anyone here taken/recommend any course (best if in physical setting) that includes R/Python and SQL within the same curriculum? I am thinking to take up such course to increase my chances if not shortlisted. thanks.

If you able to do self-study, then you can actually watch YouTube videos and learn. No need to do a paid course for Python or SQL. Only thing is you don't get a certification.

Could try online first and see if you can follow.

For python, first set up the environment eg, Jupyter Notebook (via PIP or Anaconda, I just the former) and then watch the videos and try out the coding along the way.

DataCamp got free starter course on python and SQL.

Those who got the interview invitation from UBS, JPM, and BOS, when did you do your technical assessment?

As I just did last monday 13 sep. So I wondering if those got invited for intv, did the test same time or previous batch earlier.

Now feel like sitting in a bomb, want to know if can get into this program or move on.

This is a good intro to Python course that covers the ground quite well. And it's completely free. It also covers SQL in the topic 'Databases'.

Honestly, I don't think any course will cover both R and Python because they are alternative tools and it's just easier to teach the data analytics concepts in one language. If you purely want to do data analytics, R is a better tool to start with because it is a specialised tool for working with data so you should just start with that. But, if you wanna do a broader range of things eventually (e.g., do some programming), then start with learning Python since Python is a general purpose tool.

Everything you can do in R, you can do with Python. Some things you can do in Python cannot be done in R. BUT, the things that you can do in R are alot simpler to do in R than in Python la

I did the technical assessment on 12 Sep. Got email from UBS to do another cultural test on 15 Sep (not interview). No news from the other FIs

Yes, I feel that IBF and FI have conflicting objectives. IBF intends to convert people into finance tech type of job from other industries. But FI wants somebody who are ready to do the job at the low job level and low cost. The latter also want to limit it's risk of the project failure, delays should the person they get be really not IT good enough. That's my impression.

Sometimes is wise not to think so much after all, IT is considered as cost center jobs anyway except for solution architect and developer.

i think it should be not worked in the same role before, like a DA in the logistics industry.

Ya, I know... I think you cannot be the job capacity, not finance. ie you can be a programmer but you have not done agile programming before. Or you have been a mainframe programmer in a bank but not SW enginnering before. I can't remember the exact phase, but that's what I recall.

• Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents
• Minimum 21 years old
• Graduated or completed National Service (whichever is later and where relevant) for at least 2 years
• No prior work experience in Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Software Engineering, Technology Product Management, Business Analysis, Digital Marketing, Agile IT Project Management or User Experience Design
• Any applicant with outstanding obligations to previous sponsorship(s) will not be allowed to participate.
• Must not be a shareholder# of the hosting financial institution, or its related companies
• Must not be related to the owner(s)^ of the hosting financial institution
• Must not be immediate ex-staff of the hosting financial institution or related entities

#does not apply to publicly traded shares in listed companies
^for non-publicly listed companies, refers to individuals with shareholding per ACRA profile
