it's political suicide to go into elections with a trade war. china can do anything during the run-up and trump knows it. that's why he is all in now

Going forward there is going to be some kind of a showdown about Hong Kong protests. Maybe Huawei ban and China retaliation and then Brexit drama. I think volatility is here to stay atleast till end of the year.

They may not but when it hits them as well, and they have social unrest from rising unemployment, they would. The Chinese biggest fear is that they do not provide enough jobs for their populace and that triggers social unrest.
