i love shorting momo.

MTCH was my 1st stock purchase, i held it i think a few days before earnings. i enter at 42, then earnings jump up 8 dollar or so.... i faster cash out :s13:

end up i keep going in and out of mtch and dell until the SCB comms kill me lolx then i try ibkr
I cashed out of mtch at 67 after earnings. I expected price to go down as I tot traders will chase other stock earnings, just like previous mtch ER ... Bloody hell it went up to 75 non stop even during the market turmoil... Damn pissed off.
Such profitable momo gems are rare and few...

Do not get carried away. We have seen the cash market making uturns from pre opening futures' performance... Also, you can trust the biggest manipulator to be in action tonight. :D

Oh well, just need to set stop limit to mitigate sudden shifts.

actually i think SHOP a bit overpriced also. i exited at loss on this crap.

now i thinking to just whack option puts at 260 just before its earnings but still a loooooooooong time until that.

It's a long slide downwards.

Many months back people have been asking whether it's good time to buy.

China says trade talks cant continue unless US addresses its wrong actions:

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/05/23/chi...ue-unless-us-addresses-its-wrong-actions.html

Then now we have this:
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told CNBC on Thursday that denials from Huawei that it does not work with the Chinese government are false.

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/05/23/sec...ork-with-the-chinese-government-is-false.html

Looks like we may well see increased tariff rates being slapped on in one month's time.

This is a bearish turn of events.

It's times like these that we may have missed the sacrifice of Julian assange to shed the truth.

2800 to 2820 in the SP futures is where support is. Prior we had a test and a spring off the level. Will we see it hold tonight? Personally, I do not see this level giving way unless we see a good volume sell off tonight... For that to happen, we need a strong reason or catalyst. I see this catalyst coming from the Chinese counterstrike … so far the Chinese has been showing restrain... so lets see.

Correct me if I'm wrong but ... The Chinese sleep during us trading hours and vice versa for Americans during Asian trading hours. So any news will come from us side.

Although US indices looks like still holding up, MSCI world has made a new monthly low.

I am HODLing cash right now. Planning to lock away in SSB and FDs and wait until later half of this year. Let's compare, this year v/s last year.
Trade war has worsened
US earnings growth was already slowing
USD has become stronger impacting company's earnings
QT is still on until September.

Yet S&P500 is way higher than the bottom of last year. So S&P has huge scope to go down than up.

Sorry guys for my noob question.

While the DIJA has been dropping recently,, it is still well above the mid point from past 52 weeks high and Low. With the trade war and Huawei ban, why is it still able to trade near 52w high?

For example 52w Low is about 21k points and 52w high is at 26k points. We r now at 25k points. I would expect the trade war and Huawei ban would impact DJIA performance to be hovering below the 23.5k points.

Mainly because of share buybacks. Companies are extinguishing shares from the total outstanding, at a record pace. So even without people buying more shares, there are lesser shares available and creates a source of demand.

Trump's tax cut has led to this. Companies like AAPL have brought back cash from offshore and using it buy back their stock.

Er - this is a one-off - the offshore cash can’t run forever. Am I missing something here ? To me, no basis for the US indices to hold up so high. I am staying out
