The financial press speculates that traders are slightly more confident the Federal Reserve will lower interest rates — I think an ADP jobs number released today gave them that idea — and they feel stocks are slightly more valuable with a rate cut.

It’s just their guess, though.

The S&P 500 index hit yet another all-time intraday and closing high today. Actually, all the major indices did. And the 10 year U.S. Treasury yield broke well below 2%, down now to just a little above 1.95%. What a strange yield curve!

Will all hell break loose when 10 year treasury break below 1.5% or is it already breaking loose?

The bears may buy while they talk down the market.
You just need to have your war chest ready and brave.

I tell you this is the time to be more fearful.

There is another thread in SSI asking how to buy US index funds.

Now is not the best time to go ALL in guys. Hold on your purchase.

Agreed. When people start asking "how do I invest in xxxxx" without bothering to read any of the multiple existing threads that already explain this kinda stuff in detail, it's a strong indicator to start derisking

Because these are the type of people that will panic and dump when the market starts dipping. Once there is enough of these kind of investors, easy to trigger sell off/market crash

One of the signs I look for in price volume analysis in my swing trading strategy is to see if there are any weak hands being stopped out. When their stops get triggered, that's the time I angle an entry.

Well it's just a contrarian view of the market. Have you not heard of the famous saying?

Buy when there is a lot of fear
Sell when there is a lot of greed

Here is a simple F&G index that I usually follow. See the index over time?

How accurate it is. How silly would anyone not follow the indicator to buy in Dec 2018?

I know... I mean we shouldn't instil fear into people.
In any case, does the 30/70 or 20/80 rule applies to this?

Or let me put it this way. These people are so uninformed of the basic dynamics of the market that all you need is 2 or 3 posters to put up some pseudo-science fud and these people will be scared off from entering the market. In a way, they'll be guaranteed to lose money no matter what advice is given.

I don't think a post from some ordinary guys in a forum can move the market.

The market is at all time high and there is a lot of greed.

Do you suggest people to continue to be greedy and buy buy?

I suggest to be extra cautious on buying. But I am not suggesting to sell everything.

The 30/70 and 20/80 are for those investors who are taking the passive approach and doing a monthly DCA. This group of people shouldn't react to any other indicators.

The F&G index is suitable for those active investors or traders.
