Pls update everyone on the stock levels cos I think very few were brought in for this current batch. iirc, CBM has Costa Rica C2 batch too but I prefer the Malay LaoBu batch from PCT more.

Sorry OT a little. I'm getting tired of waiting for IVB so might setup a 2011 rig instead. I'm going for a blue themed rig and so far I've rounded down MB selection to either Asus P8x79 Pro or MSI x79a-gd65 8D.

Any users of the 2 boards? or got other blue x79 board to suggest? Any suggestions/recommendation will be greatly appreciated.

This UEFI blue enough for you? Black mobo looks great with the 4 blue Ares sticks running quad channel on it now.

This brand new option simply popped up upon swapping out the old C1 for the new C2 processor.

No la, I wanted hardware blue theme. And I do agree, the Ares sticks sure do look nice. Corsair Vengeance ram HS's are nice looking too tho >.<

How is the 24/7 overclocking on c2? Some seems to overclock better than c1, some seem a lot worse...some say c2 degrades faster?

I think even on the c1, if you just select enable vt-d option, the whole option list will pop out...

For Asus get Asus X79 Vanilla will do

Just got started playing with the C2 3930K, maybe post these few screenshots 1st.

DTS load temps are much more even across the various cores - only 4-5C difference. This chip seems to need slight lower Vcore than my C1 to keep Prime95 Blend happy. I am using the Offset Vcore mode and it is already set at the lowest possible positive offset of +0.005V.

As per my usual impatient self, 15+ mins of P95 Blend and I am bored stiff enough to run off to do other more productive stress testing like video transcoding.

Ah... amen to 700+ fps rips, is there anything better than a freshly brewed new mp4 movie for my iPhone on a cold rainy Monday morning? The o'ced 6 cores crushes movies better than any Bulldozer can hope to do.

same voltage as i7 bloomfield but is 4x3.8ghz vs 6x4.5ghz!

resit the heatfan and tried for a long run of ibt and tweaked vtt down to 1.065v
passed!

things i noted is how temps can cause ibt to fail and the fault is because the birdsht line method for the tim dont work! found almost upper half of the ihs devoid of tim! i put a bigsht in middle and smallsht at the corners now temp drop a lot! except for that rogue core0 grrr!

temps are same as bloomfield so is notch bad for hexa cores!

i also found llc can cause cpu clock to throttle! so it is better to off it.

anyway quite a nice and efficient cpu to overclock.

Hmm...maybe. MSI only difference is 2 less sataIII connectors and CPU plate color only right?

Asus can't cos will lose front panel USB3 if go vanilla.

No need to push so hard lah for that little bit more MHz, just get this 8 core 16 thread LGA2011 monster instead. Official release date is supposed to be tmr.

4.5ghz and stable at 1.296v is quite good leh.

May be possible to make do with even less Vcore, I have started to go in the direction of negative offset.

Main concern is the ilde Vcore also drops with negative offset so wondering how this may affect idle stability. Intel specs quote a range of 0.600-1.350V so hopefully there won't be any 101/124 during idle as the value is dropped further.

Though one still wishes that the newer ROG BIOS releases can do away with the double cold POST process.
