i don't see why motorola will be given special treatment for the nexus progreamme, motorola is in a good position now as the android updates for their current phones should be flowing out by the end of the year.

i honestly would love a razr phone, design, battery life, out of this world.
but i'd die without my stock android. haha.

you sure ? their updates are terrible. they update their phones once and then throw them one side ..

I know past updates are horrible. But they should be getting better..
Samsung was once **** at updates, then Google told them to do up the nexus s, and ta dah. They are now the largest Android manufacturer. And their updates are quite constant.
From now on LG should have better and quicker updates. I say should. Haha.

Sammy had a winner which was the galaxy s2... I guess that had reasons why they were asked to make nexus S

Apparently Google does not ask the OEMs to make the phones, the OEMs tender to make them. Then Google will see who they like based on the OEM's proposals.

Like now they chose LG cause they want a good phone build rather than plastic from samsung.

Doesn't matter. If they can buy it, they will let you know. Not your concern whether they can access or not. If they can't buy it, you lose nothing. :D

I guess your right :) anyway in preparation for ordering my Nexus 4 (big grin on my face) I went ahead last night and tried to see if google playstore will accept my card. I ordered a Nexus 7 cover, the price was 19.99 and my total bill was 29.98 after adding the tax, shipping was free to my vpost US address. On the payment page, a pop-up appeared to set-up google wallet so I entered my details, then I received an email regarding my order however it states that my card has not yet been deducted until my order ships, not sure if google will still verify my card. I used my OCBC debit mastercard.

Google Nexus 4 subsidy rumor: $319 per unit | BGR

One of Google’s (GOOG) big competitive advantages in the consumer electronics space is that the company genuinely doesn’t seem to care whether it makes money selling its mobile devices since most of its money comes from search advertising revenue. And now TheNextWeb has done some good detective work that suggests the company may have taken its willingness to subsidize its devices to new heights with its Nexus 4 smartphone.

Specifically, TheNextWeb found that LG (066570) is selling the Nexus 4 to retailers in Europe for €599 ($766), or €300 ($384) more than what Google is charging for the device on its Google Play store. 9to5Google says that it wouldn’t be surprised if Google is subsidizing the Nexus 4, saying that the device has a “seemingly impossible $299 price for the 8GB model” that includes “a beautiful 1280×768 IPS Retina-quality display, insanely fast Qualcomm s4 Krait chipset with 2GB of RAM, 8 megapixel cameras and beautiful design.”

Another reason to buy from playstore.
The mark-up is incredible!

you can use paypal as payment then register sg credit card on paypal.
paypal hides the credit card number from the merchant, like google playstore.

Just read this from Google Play

"Also, at this time, PayPal is not an available payment option on Google Play for any type of content (apps, in-apps, books, movies or music)."

After GST it's around S$460. Still haven't take into account shipping fees on Google > US address + US to SG + tips for the service.

Honestly, what is a good price? I got headache trying to figure out.

sorry to say this: did you even know what you are talking about? i already made an estimate from my source and i should be paying around $565 if my source buy for me. keep in mind that you can't use USPS as there is battery in the phone which since earlier this year, USPS has banned air parcel with battery. therefore, shipping has to go through USPS, Fedex and the likes, which i already got a quote. so, the person might be marking up but not by much.

US$349 should be SGD427, based on Amex Credit Card exchange rate. shipping from US to US address to where i was quoted is 10 to 15 USD. tax is 9.5%, in USD of course. handling fee by whoever you choose ranges but i experienced one that charged 10 USD. Fedex to SG - i can't remember but end day, it was around 565 SGD.

Kenny, how did you get 460 after GST or was it for 8GB model? :s11:

Hehe...I just convert with XE.com exchange rate then add SG 7% GST since above S$400. Buy direct from Google still got sales tax meh?
