Or are they shipping with Chrome as the default in 4.2 ?

Chrome is very buggy on my S2 right now.

I have not used a Nexus phone before so hopefully can get some valuable feedback from users who have past experience.

Yes chrome is default now. Then use dolphin if you prefer something else.

Never use S3 before......then very hard for anyone to tell u. Some people love the "gimmicky" features Samsung added, some hate it to the core. Browser wise Chrome is the default in Nexus 4 for sure, no more default alternative liao. So far it has worked fine for me on my devices, but some people have problems with it, so again it's a lottery for some user.

The main purpose of a Nexus device is quick OS updates from Google. It's less about how laggy manufacturer skins are these days due to hardware improvements.

For me, I'm using/sticking to Nexus because I'm sick and tired of flashing 101 custom roms on previous Android (non-Nexus) devices just to keep up to date, which either a) have bugs because of the rom chefs or by Samsung, or b) AOSP/CM derivatives which lose features because those added by Samsung are proprietary.

With Nexus it's much reduced in scale. I choose 1 custom rom, and I stick to it. At most update the rom/kernel once in a while. I don't lose any feature because it's so barebones in the first place, which is both a pro and a con if you think about it.

I think boiling down to the basics - it's whether you want something much simpler and pure, or something that will dazzle you with a lot of fluff (not that the fluff is useless - some Samsung additions are very nice to say the least). Hardware wise there's also tradeoffs, like LTE/expandable storage.

In short, I just find that using a non-Nexus device complicates my Android experience. I waste more time trying to improve the device/software. By restricting myself to whatever hardware the Nexus comes with, I just buy it and use it. Much less wasting time trawling XDA looking for better stuff. Kinda like self abstinence if you get my point.

The main things are Touchwiz (which if you hate, you can flash CM10 albit with bugs), removable battery, SD Card, a bit larger screen but lower quality.

Nexus 4 would have a great build, better screen quality, Nexus experience (project butter is still not available on some phones running jelly bean) and first to get updates. Along with the price.

I'd get the Nexus 4 if i have a dedicated mp3 player, a battery pack.

Same here.. A little sick and tired of flashing a totally new rom every month to try around to find that there are bugs here and there. Not to mention stock android is damn gorgeous.

and to rebuke you....my ARM samsung chromebook is arriving next week.........bought from google play as well...

i know what i am talking about.....all my products are bought direct from google play, not from re-sellers or 'other sources'.........

sorry... one more thing. actually, i am also keen with US$249 Chromebook but i am now at Google Play store but only sees it as coming soon. out of stock, perhaps?
