ppl on starhub who upgrade to 4.2.2, notice if the data drop is fixed?

i got notified that 4.2.2 is ready for download....but touch control still not fixed, so never upgrade.

Its highly unlikely for touch control to be compatible with default 4.2.2 stock kernel. The developer himself have said that google has disabled the module necessary for touch control to work due to possibility of security breaching. He does have a modified 4.2.2 stock kernel with the module enabled but to change kernel will require rooting.

Ultimately, I'm not sure that Touch Control will be able to sustain... was reading Faux's thread, he mentioned that Google has made it such that everytime kernel changes, new modules need to be compiled for it.

Basically that means that Touch Control will always be lagging behind, plus every custom kernel needs a new module.. doesn't sound sustainable to me.

i just updated to 4.2.2 already. used ota rootkeeper to keep my root.

so right now, only touch control is not working....sian.

Effective usable storage space is 5.5gb. Different ppl got different needs and its okay for me. Go figure if this is enough for you

If you have lots videos or other large files, it won't be enough. I have the 16GB one and I'm running out of space on it. It doesn't help that USB OTG isn't supported either.

But doesn't touch control requires root anyway, regardless of kernel?

Meh.. Google apparently disabled the ability to load kernel modules for the stock 4.2.2 kernel.. Touch Control doesn't work now.

Other than Faux and Harsh, anyone else knows of any enhanced stock kernels that work both with Touch Control and FauxDisplay? Faux's enhanced stock works with FauxDisplay but not Touch Control and vice versa for Harsh's...

Find a kernel that works, then stick with it.....

noob question, never flashed a kernel before, only flashed full ROMs in recovery before. How does one do it with the nexus? Need to first unlock bootloader then root?

Also, I've heard good things about the franco kernel, from better battery life to better color calibration. Is that the best so to speak right now?

Flash kernel same as flash full custom roms. U can flash custom roms, u got the prerequisites to flash kernels.

Some people will swear by different kernels. I just pick the one that seems most popular, friendly dev to me and stick to it. So franco for me.

Yah...very helpful when trying to stream a video using the well known speeds of the 3G networks of all the telcos here. Even if 4G still stuck with 2gb restrictions.

Not to mention having to clear stuff frequently because recording videos take up a ton of space.

Cloud is just a poor man's excuse for not having enough local storage.

Out of the box there's around 6GB space, I don't watch videos or listen to music on my phone so I think it will be quite sufficient for me.

yeah. putting everything in cloud is a joke if you're talking about videos and songs...

but if you're talking about documents, then it's good. but documents so small, store on the phone also never mind... lol

Try streaming videos when you're commuting underground. The reception is often horrible.

Even if you have excellent connectivity, try streaming movies when you only have 2GB/month and each movie is a few hundred MB or over 1GB. Your plan won't last you a trip from Tuas to Changi.

Cloud is great in theory, and maybe in 10 years we'll all be living the dream, but as of now, that's all it is - a pipe dream.
