I got a friend in Australia. He can buy it from play store and have it shipped to his house in Aussie. But problem is delivering it to Singapore... any cheap and safe ideas? I looked up the online rates quotation for parcel shipment from Fedex, UPS, DHL, all crazy high prices like AUD$100+

anyone here can help?

I am using stock rom, franco kernel r13.
The battery life has been improved from stock kernel, but it is still not good.

I noticed that sometimes Mediaserver uses a large percentage of my battery, but I don't play music or watch many videos. I also usually force close all the apps after using them, to try to improve battery life.

My battery can drop 30-40% while I am sleeping, despite disabling Wifi and mobile data.

Mediaserver did not use so much battery before I slept.

Can anybody help ?

If shipping from AUS is cheap, then most of us would have bought from the AUS play store, not JP play store in the other thread.
BTW, most of these companies in AUS do not seem to ship items with batteries.

something is causing wakelock in ur mediaserver. Maybe try factory reset and flash the kernel again.

Do you know what app I can use to see what is causing that ?
I found this app Wakelock detector but it does not work with Kit Kat.

mediaserver is usually caused by the rom. I suggest you factory reset and see if it is still there. as always, do a nandroid backup.

I factory reset my phone, flashed Franco kernel r14.
I did not restore any apps and went to sleep.
Wifi and mobile data are disabled.
Now there is wakelock in google search ?
Is this normal ? But battery life did not drop so much as before.

You don't need to force close apps to improve battery life unless that app was badly designed to begin with.

Disable the keyword detection in Google Now.

Hmm any n5 user just using the stock is and didn't root and flash?

I am one of the few who is still not rooted and on stock. I stopped flashing custom ROMs after I used a N4 for a few months. My feeling is that Android 4.3 and now 4.4 is good enough by itself without getting into custom ROMs. I used to flash CM nightly!
