While I can see where you're coming from with regards to 'treating the windows to the soul better', I cannot agree with your thoughts about stinginess and ROI. By and large, I am someone who treats my items with care and use them for their functional purpose. In this instance, if I may ask, assuming that my power hasn't changed (it hasn't) and the scratches on the lenses have not affected my ability to see well (they've not) with the glasses on, will changing my glasses - presumably because I can - be deemed as treating my eyes better, and if so, how? Also, how is ROI here measured?

Thanks also for the article, but what does it serve to prove in this instance? There are a whole host of problems here, but that's another story for another time.

Having said these, I do get your point - Zeiss > Hoya.

To have any significant blue blocking effect, you probably need an amber lens tinted to at least 30%.

These blue reflective lens have been seen by many optometrists to be lacking in evidence to demonstrate the benefits they claim

Can i just check with the pros here.

I'm currently thinking of getting a pair of spectacle. Problem is, my face and shape, wear those small frame specs won't look good. Can only wear those avaitor kind of frames or in laymen term, big frames spectacles.

I heard from friends that big frame specs, the lens would be clear in the middle area, basically your eye level area whereby the rest not as clear. So wanna check, having a big frame, can the lens be made clear throughout? My degree should be 100 or beow but i see white background, vision would be blur.

If your astig and myopia is low, the lens should be clear throughout. Go to optometrist to see if your eye got problem. Spoc and npoc do thorough eye checks, but are open only during term time

Gonna get a new pair but don't know should stick to ic berlin or Oakley. Sian

You can buy a clip-on first and see if it works for you. It will be tinted slightly yellowish instead of having the reflective coats. Can find them on taobao, under 防蓝.

Otherwise you can tint your lens slightly yellow or find the cheapest pc lens. This isn't sophisticated optics, brand premium not justified

anyone encountered problem of AR coating cracking and peeling off?

My spare specs left in the drawer, took out from the drawer , one side the AR coating flaking and look like spider web. About 2 years old, Essilor 1.6 polycarbonate , I think

Notwithstanding the age of your Essilor lenses is already two years old, Crizal coating, be it AR or photochromic, is the worst, if not one of the shittiest ever. In addition to ZERO scratch resistance to even micro fiber wiping fabric. They just dump tons of $$$ on TVCs to dupe consumers.

Many of the low index lens are commodity technology. They are good for a year of normal use.

Are you using 1.6 polycarbonate for sports?

when I made it, it was supposed to be a sports (and spare) specs,
but it remained underutilised as I often go without specs completely

owndays good bo? some people swear by it cos cheap and value some just say flat out bad (what wrong prescription, peeling frame, lens coating cmi).

My degree high (600+ both eyes) then if owndays 100-120 frame plus lens (1.74 index) will be quite wu hua right, else where up to 1.67 index already +++. (plus 50% off 2nd pair can use for sports/fashion)

I just wanna know if the pros here got any general consensus regarding owndays.

Or is the New China Opticians an alternative.

I just looking for value, no need be branded or what, but hopefully 1.67/1.74 cos I dont really want super thick and heavy lens.

P/S pls remember your eyes are the windows to your soul and the world around you. Without good vision and comfortable glasses the quality of your life will be compromised.

I don't know what brand is he wearing. but you might want to try Tom Ford.
the size is very quite small. frame size is 44 or 46
