I had recently replaced my progressive lens for astigmatism and presbyopia.

When first pair was done, everything was perfect during the day, but only have problems during the night. Having glowing effects and double vision on street lights and traffic lights. At 50m away, the double vision for red and amber lights appeared horizontally and the green lights appeared vertically.

Went back to have a 2nd replacement. There was a great improvement on red and amber lights but not perfect. Still having the glowing effect and slight double vision on red and amber lights. No improvement on the green lights.

No improvement after the 3rd replacement. In fact the green light got worst.

Anyone having the same problems before? Any recommendation?

I was chatting with someone recently, may I know if one has 2 pairs of glasses with same power, says the power is 500+ myopic; one pair has no issue at all, meaning it is comfortable for both eyes but for the other pair, one eye is discomfort. From the conversation, the wearer mentioned he mainly using one eye instead of 2 eyes to see. Something like "pa jiao" or "shoot bird". What is the cause of such? Thanks.

I am looking for a basic non photochromatic lens for my backup glasses, which brand is best for scratch and fog resistance since i will be using it outdoors alot. Also has to have UV protection.

Ive been using essilor and zeiss, and for photochormatic lenses, my pick would be zeiss, but the essilor is clearer when its not darken. But i dont have much experience for just the normal lens in regard to scratch resistance.

Since its a secondary glass, it a value brand would suffice.

Let me rephrase and let me know if it’s right haha. The person is about -5.00/500 degree. Has 2 pair of glasses. One pair comfortable to wear whereas the other pair of glasses,when worn, one eye is not comfortable?

If it’s backup, you want the best value for money, then I suggest Hoya Pentax lenses? It is cost effective and quality is not bad.

Yes. You are absolutely correct.
Based on my layman understanding, myopia should not have such issue unlike those with progressive lens. Personally, I have experienced with my progressive lens but for myopia, every part of the lens should be the same power and as a result, I am puzzled . Can’t be power increased? Can’t be PD issue too? Looking forward to hearing your expert’s view. Thanks

I dont need blue light filter which ive read is just marketing BS, i am more concerned for anti scratch since i will be using it primarily outdoors but dont need photochromatic function.

But i do want your opinion, between hoya, essilor and zeiss, which has the better photochromatic lenses, ive only used transitions gen 7 and the zeiss photofusion extra grey. And in terms of darkness, the zeiss wins, but the transitions is clearer when not in the tint mode and overall, i feel the transitions is better in that regard, but when it comes to the darken state, the zeiss photofusion extra grey really is superior to the transitions gen 7, but you sacrifice clarity when its not in its darken state.

2nd frame adjustment, frame sitting closer/further towards one side of the face
3rd wrong pupil height on each eye thus prismatic shift effect.(single vision lenses pupil height is impt too especially for higher powered individuals).
These 3 might be the higher chances of occurrence for your friend case..

Essilor has their transition 8 which turns darker faster, Hoya might be coming out with sensity 2 this year, Zeiss based on my current info, is still using their current one. I would say in terms of scratch resistance, it’s Hoya Zeiss and Essilor. Close fight between Hoya and Zeiss but it all still depends on your personal handling of the lenses.
Yes to your first qns too, Pentax is their budget version.

Oh no, that’s tough. As it seems your best pair is your second set which you should based the adjustments on since 1st and 3rd is having issues.
I suggest you go back and get the second pair prescription and get it refined. But 3 times remake… if remake again quite shag. I hope it will be better for you.

Separately, how about those wearer with progressive lens? I have sensitive left eye and face discomfort with one of mine progressive sunglasses. The moment I wear the sunglasses, there is sensation on the left eye, as if the pupil is looking for the right "area" of the power to focus. Yea, they have helped to adjust 3 times and the discomfort level on the left eye is minimal now when worn. Unlike those progressive specs I have, I have no issue when it is worn even for the first time but for this sunglasses perhaps I need to re-visit the shop to adjust until the discomfort level is gone. Can I do it at any nearby optical shop? If yes, how to describe? Thank you very much.

If it’s single vision, I still will lean towards Zeiss,Hoya,Essilor.

You can do it at nearby optical shop but I wouldn’t suggest so..
firstly if they can’t handle your frame and damage it, it is not their responsibility.
If the lenses get damaged, same rule apply.
Better to let your own practitioner handle you , at the same time, they will understand the adjustment for you too so in future this won’t happen.
I believed you described it well, I can’t really put it into words as I have not experienced it myself.

I believe it sounds like the rrp price. Probably can ask for some discount.
