Oh... sorry for the misunderstanding.

I don't wish to "fix" the lens. Just need new ones.

Looking for a shop who carries Mikli Starck to help me change new lenses. Not necessary Hoya even.

Cost is not really an issue. Just need to find a shop who do this and I can't find one.

I dont understand why no shop can help you. Walk into any shop and they can replace lenses for you. Not like starck frames are that special need special mounting. Not like your starck frame costs $1mil with 18k gold or studded with very expensive or exclusive precious material or accessories that those shops are afraid to handle for you and scared to spoil your frame unable to compensate you.

If u really need help pm me and i direct u to my optician to help you if you are sincere.

Seanne, I'm sorry if I have offended you.

I'm neither an optician nor an optometrist so I have no idea how this whole thing Or industry works. :(

I'm not trying to be high and mighty about anything. I am really lost.

All I know is that I have walked into a number of shops who have outright rejected my request for a lens replacement once I showd them my frame and thus decide to pop by HWZ to see if I can get some advice from experts.

It's alright then. I am also sorry if I have inadvertantly pissed anyone else off.

I shall leave now. Thank you very much and apologies again.

Haha how did u even offend anybody, dereth. I'm sure most shops will help u change lenses. Probably they see your frame as more fragile I guess.

Not all will accept our own frame i guess.. I ever bought a OEM Oakley frame to a neighbourhood shop just to make the lens only but get rejected.

Maybe they scare what if they damaged the frame and they might need to compensate a authentic frame to me... :s13:

Have anyone of you bought frames from Spectacle Culture before? http://www.spectacleculture.com.sg/

I was served by Benn and was quoted $550 for a pair of Yellow Plus frame, he also claimed that he can't give further discount. When asked if I could get another frame color, he said I need to order and it will be at $600.

From my understanding, the frame is made of acetate and not celluloid(limited edition versions). I got a feeling he is trying to carrot head me.

Anyone knows where else I can get Yellow Plus frames at a more affordable price? prolly 300 - 400 price range?

Cheers!

can anyone recommend brands for titanium frames? no need to be those designer brands. I only know rockberries cause optician recommended it.

i am keen towards half frames, and was informed by opticians to choose the more expensive hybrid material lens to prevent chipping of lens when i drop my specs.

in my personal experience, i have dropped my crizal 1.56 index lens many times over 4 years but have yet to see any cracks or chips. is it necessary to buy the crizal hybrid material lens?

thanks all

Swiss Flex Frame

Hi Bro,

i am a sort of glasses virgin. but recently my eyesight deteriorated till quite bad. needed glasses.

but i have a problem, cos i cannot have the slightest pressure on my nose bridge or my temples, if not i will get giddy and nausea. I have googled for the lightest glasses in SG and result shows Swiss Flex, hence i have come in here to ask all bros, of anyone have had any experience with Swiss Flex?

I am currently looking at the Airlight series, anyone know hows is it? Where got sell and how much? I also read through the thread and most recommend Zeiss or Crizal, I am more leaning towards Zeiss, but i am a glasses virgin, hence i do not know what is high index.

Cos my work need me to look at 2 monitors about a feet away and i play games during my free time, hence looking at those anti blue light coating and also hoping to get a transition lens as i drive and for the above reason would hope for this pair to be my driving glasses too. As i need to read alot of documents is small fonts, hence need to be progressive too.

Any bro can recommend me a shop?

Thanks in Advance.

Warmest Regards
David Wong

I would suggest silhouette instead of Swiss flex. More suitable for adult. Their new full plastic frame is light and comfortable. Even lighter will be their frameless.

For driving, transition will not be of any use. It needs UV to turn dark. Thus unless u are driving an open TOP convertible, transition lens will not turn dark in the car.

If your progressive is not very serious, I would suggest u try out Hoya fatigue lens. It is 75 degree less on the lower half of the lens to make reading easier. U can add blue control to the lens, but no need for transition.

For shop, Kwong Shin in Brass Basah Complex and Seng Li in Queensway Shopping Centre are quite popular. If u go Seng Li, look for the young guy in the shop (the old guy is the boss, and the rest are all ladies).

I got my Swissflex frameless one 4 years ago with the most basic Crizal lens, $330 total. I believe you can achieve cheaper prices or match it at least.

It is very light for sure for me. My GF also has a frameless swissflex but she complain she can still feel the pressure on her nose and cos she has sharp nose it keep sliding down her nose.

So yea, a good fit for me but a bad fit for her, I think it is best you go down and try and experience it for yourself. Also as mentioned above, take a look at Silhouette :D
