Why Oakley frames are the Best:

1. Nosepads for all their models are customised to be made of silicon that minimises slippage off the nose.

2. The frame architecture is designed according to our face structure such that it curves over our eyes to give a close fit instead of protruding out.

3. The rubber earsocks ensures sufficient grip at the ears to minimise slippage at the back.

4. Improved titanium twin shock hinges accomodates to wide range of head sizes such that they have a good grip around your head yet not too tight that causes discomfort.

5. Worksmanship and material is considered good value for $ as all the joints, screws, parts are all up to a certain standard.

6. The design makes it easily recognisable among other brands & it is difficult to imitate from.

this problem is obviously the worksmanship, which is getting from bad to worse nowadays. By the way, depends on the worker who is making it for you. Some machines cut a standard groove while maybe some can cut deeper im not too sure. But it really looks ****ty if the nylon is actually sticking out instead of sitting into the groove completely. Thats is y i don like to make semi-rimmed or rimless anymore cos i just don trust the worksmanship anymore cos some are really made badly (maybe due to rush job). At least with full-rimmed, they tend to make less margin of error. And you don even knoe who is the worker, it could be some bangladesh that local co employs in factories. With Hoya or reputable lens brands, then maybe you can get better worksmanship though there is no gaurantee (if the worker happens to be sleepy while doing your job). Haha.

If you feel the workmanship is poor and the problem can be rectified, return it and ask whoever to redo it for you.

I think whoever do the job does not matter as long as they do a good job.

Not long ago I went to tailor my pants. I decided to tailor 2 pants with identical measurement. guess what? they came out different. The tailor can tell me that they are the same , by measuring. I don't know how he measure cos when i place them side by side and on top of each other , they look different. I went back several times and they still cannot rectify the problem. I gave up and never return.

So my point is , if you are unhappy with the job , return and ask them to redo. If they still can't rectify the problem. ban them.

From queenway. Mine is also Zeiss 1.67 airwear. He asked me to do airway becos it is more durable since this is a rimless rame.

What is your total damage?

Airwear is a fancy name that Essilor use to name their polycarbonate lens. Polycabonate lens only comes in index of 1.59 , rounded off to 1.6.

So your lens is simply a Zeiss 1.67 lens, which is durable enough for rimless frame.

Depending on your prescription, sometimes it may not be best to go for the highest index lens.

It depend on your degree bro. What is your lens degree in the first place ?
My degree is 500+, that's why I choose high index.

Like I said in my post, airwear is by crizal.

airwear is a brand by essilor just like crizal. It is basically polycarbonate lens which is shatter resistance and is suitable for rimless. It has an index of 1.59.

Which shop told you they are zeiss lens with index of 1.67????

how do you ban them when you do not know who is the one doing the lens for you? Most of the time or all of the time, optical shops in sg do not do it inside the shop themselves cos they seldom buy their own machines to "tailor" the lens. They will send to labs that "specialise" in tailoring the lens and these labs usually are the same that different optical shops share. Meaning shop A and shop B & shop C most likely send their lens to the same lab, so are you going to ban the shop or the lab? And due to time constraint & lack of experience & expertise of the workers that some of these labs employ, the results still the same. And its difficult to ask them to redo & expect they do a good job the 2nd round, it may become worse than the original job done.

Im not so particular about pants becos the measurement differs not to the extent of few inches, most likely just fraction of an inch that you cant really tell the difference. They tell you the measurement is the same cos when they draw the lines on the cloth its correct but when the tailor who cuts it decides to save time & cut your 2 pants cloth at the same time (meaning stacking one on top of the other), then the resultant pants will have slight difference in measurement. Esp if you tailor more than 2 pants, the 4th, 5th or the last one most likely differs the most. Best to do one pant at a time then they cant try to save time & do a poor job.

But spectacles are different. A slight misjudgement or misalignment is obvious and it seems no way to gaurantee a perfect job.

Of cos you ban the shop lah. they do a bad job and you still go back? if you don't ask them to redo and keep going back even when you are not happy means you accept what they give you. you just have to blame yourself.

Mind you, do you know how much the machine cost that they use to cut the lenses? Some of the machine can cost more than a car. if they are using lousy machine, it can be seen in the workmanship. If they are using expensive machine and can't do a good job, something must be wrong.

If the job is unacceptable and you think they can make it better get them to redo it.

as for my tailored pants, one is made nicely, while the 2nd one, one leg opening is bigger than the other. the cutting is also different from the 1st one, which you can differentiate visually. Do you think it's acceptable ? If the measurement is a quarter of an inch off, it's acceptable. But one inch? the pants is also not symmetrical when you fold them up. it's very obvious something is wrong. How can one pants be done nicely and the other one like that?

For spectacles, sometimes there will be slight difference and if within tolerance , it's acceptable. However, some people will be very particular and picky, you can't please them no matter what. These are the worst customer to have. :D

pls look at the color of your hoya lens coating. Is it different fm other normal lenses? Hoya sft coating has a colour that is quite different, the multi-coating looks "darker" & "thicker" and when u wipe the lens, supposedly to be smoother as well. Try and let us know if you see any difference.

@ 2pm2am:

errr... so do u mean that we should not be picky & particular when it comes down to what we are wearing on our face everyday? Just tolerate & accept the flaws so that we can become their best customers?

My pants i don really go & measure them up like you do fold them & see whether symmetrical or not. Maybe thats why i don find any problem with my pants all these years. I just trust my tailor with his job. Especially since tailors nowadays are hard to find as it is a dying trade & lesser & lesser ple are looking for tailors. I guess similarly for spectacles, pants or other tings if we dont go and look at them u don find any problems, but the more we see & see, then the problems surface & become nagging at us, a thorn in our heart. Humans are funny.

But honestly speaking, an inch off the leg is ok la, as long its not the wasitline or your butt. Too big u still can ask tailor to shrink it, if you wan to make it bigger then too bad...

later u go to other shop. then other shop send to same lab. i sure laugh at u. LOL. whole singapore 700+ optical shop. only less than 10 lens companies. what are the odds bro? u count urself.
i went to india. people there do MANUAL cutting with a cheap machine. end up also perfect. all depends on the lab technician who receives your job not the optical shop.
