later u go to other shop. then other shop send to same lab. i sure laugh at u. LOL. whole singapore 700+ optical shop. only less than 10 lens companies. what are the odds bro? u count urself.
i went to india. people there do MANUAL cutting with a cheap machine. end up also perfect. all depends on the lab technician who receives your job not the optical shop.

i agree. that is my point. And in sg very few shops willing to invest in the expensive machines, they rather outsource to labs, and some of these labs really dont have experienced enough technician, more are foreign workers who only pick up the skills on the job, meaning you become their guinea pigs to hone their skills. haha. Accept it.

how high ur power? 4-5mm not bad leh. mine about there. -6.50D

4-5mm is rather thick and the thickness can be visible from the sides. My power is 7.75. Mine is 1.74 really thin, about 3mm.

Oakley frame $590 plus the lenses $850. The only complain i have is that they accidentally scrape off a bit of the colour at the places close to the screws.

for 600 over degree... does 1.67 vs even thinner index make a difference? worth that price tag going for thinner than 1.67?

Mine is rimless. Cannot do 1.74 and it would be freaking expensive.

pls look at the color of your hoya lens coating. Is it different fm other normal lenses? Hoya sft coating has a colour that is quite different, the multi-coating looks "darker" & "thicker" and when u wipe the lens, supposedly to be smoother as well. Try and let us know if you see any difference.

i had a crizal lens and did a comparison..somehow i felt like totally conned by the optical shop.. it fail the basic water test. its not as smooth as crizal when i wipe the lens also. I see a watermark labeled "SA3" duno wat that means. below are my pics when i receive my lens. I ask for a Hoya SFT coated lens initially. So do u tink this is not??:(

Last time I had the impression of lens quality grade:

Top - Zeiss, Nikon
Followed by - Essilor, Hoya, Seiko
Followed by - others

Am I right?

I went to one optical shop and is qouted $580 for 1.74 Hoya lens for 600+degree... is it super expensive? the person said that its the latest Hoya model with new technology

hmm, can i ask why rimless cannot do 1.74? I used to have a pair of rimless tagheur frame & its my optician who recommended me to make 1.74 instead of 1.67 as it looks better asthetically.
But u are right la, 1.74 RX is freaking expensive, HOYA only have one type of 1.74 & it costs $1,000.
Unless dont mind taking those unbranded lenses which costs ard $380 (for RX like mine).

Might be too thin for rimless. My optician also recommend max 1.67 for Tag rimless.

I also had 1.67 nikon seemax custom made lenses and it is not thin. It is custom-made in Japan then sent to SG, however takes 2 weeks. Vision wise, they say that nikon is sharpest but i dont feel the clarity or sharpness as compared to HOYA or normal lenses. Price-wise, not cheap either.
I have high astig but i dont feel any aberration for 1.74 lenses.

the difference is slight only, maybe 1mm, and it depends very much on the lens shape & size that you choose for your frame too. If your frame is those long & angular, then no difference will still be thick la, not worth the price tag. Especially the higher the degree, the less difference it makes. Becos the thickness apply more to the centre of the lens instead of on the outside/edge.
