hi people, I saw alot wearing those "Arale" or big black frame with usually colored temples. They seemed to be under a common brand. Anyone happened to know what brand that is? Ty.

ic! berlin in SG

where can look at ib berlin framez ?
Well the ic! berlin website shows these Singapore shops:

Evershine Optical
Blk 177 Toa Payoh Central #01-156 Singapore 310177
Tel: 62537967
Opening hours :
Mon to Sat: 11am to 9pm
Sun : 11am to 6pm
Contact | Evershine Optical
https://www.facebook.com/evershineoptical

Mugen Pte Ltd
18 Kaki Bukit Road 3
415978 Singapore
67463188
tony@mugeneyes.com

I've never heard of either shop.

I am looking for lightweight, tough, all-day-wear spectacles.

I've been going to Pearl's Optical (People's Park Centre) for about 20 years, but I felt that the service isn't that fantastic in terms of helping to adjust frame-fit, workmanship of minor (FOC) repairs.

What does HWZ think of Pearl's?

I've been wearing plain Silhouette hingeless (and its generic clones) for more than 10 years. (replaced many times due to loss and breakage)

Something like this... Aliexpress is full of generic clones!
Rimless-eyeglasses-Titanium-eyeglasses-frame-hingeless-optical-eyeglasses-flexible-temple-B-148-Silver-like-Silhouette-men.jpg

I was wondering if there is any other frames I should consider, with the same idea of simplicity, lightweight, but more indestructible. How about the new plastics like Swissflex?
And are plastic hingless Silhouettes discontinued?

Yes, you are totally right abt Pearl Optical. Maybe the problems are due too too many customers very hard to get good service or good workmanship. I stopped going there after making 2 pairs of tagheuer & 1 oakley. I prefer more exclusive shop that can provide better. U should stick to silhuoette i think so far its still quite good brand. For me i dont like the look and feel of it. I prefer jap designers. Comfy, light, tough (though not indestructible). Im not a rugged guy so its ok for me.

btw $750 just for the frame, i dont even have that kind of money to spend it just on the frame itself. abit too luxury i find. max i went was $600 for the tag frame the day i started this thread. thot the tag can last me long but lasted ard 5yrs only and now sitting inside cupboard collecting dust.

Somehow my tag specs rubber ALWAYS deteriorate. I gave up after the 3rd pair.

Light and fits snugly, and stylish, yes. But it's a hassle especially on the plane. Other than using the case I can't find a place to keep it properly. Using normal specs from armani so it folds compact.

TS dont be too humble lei. U got car, i take mrt. And u gg hoot a $3k watch but me oni a tissot. I oso regret buying tag, oakley, icberlin cos all don fit me. I learnt it the very hard way lor. Have spent a fortune. Finally now know what fit i shd look for. So nowadays more to collecting those specs that i like and know if dont buy i wont have the chance again. To me spec is more impt than a watch. Firstly, its more of a need than a want. Secondly, fashion wise spec can do mre magic than a watch. My gal hates guys who wear white colour spec think it look v ugly. :D

Yes, tag spec is more for style. And v light. One of the lightest spec in the mkt. I think lose to silhuoette and lindberg only. Becos made of titanium and rubber temples. Bro, ofcos deteriorate la cos the rubber they use are taken from the F1 race car tyres after the race. ;) the tag now are no longer as good as the earlier batches lo i think. For me i find the nosearms more inclined to european fit and the new silucone pads too flimsyz.

Haha, yattokame u are in a higher league woh. 3 pairs of tag. And jin sakti watches. U doing very well. Im jealous. ;)

going to hoot and hooted makes alot of difference mah. haha. specs and watches goes in a pair i guess, pple do take note of what specs u wear also. heh, my wife works for an optical company so usually if i want i can get cheaper.

and the watch that i gonna hoot, one of my good friend works in one of the AD, so she can get a good price for me as well.. arboh i also wont hoot. i might be looking at a 3k watch but might not get it. sometimes we just see far but reality might not work out well.

car is bobian one, i already drive in 2008 when coe was low. that time was still opc then converted to normal. i recently have a baby girl, so a car is handy.

i went thru what u went thru, 2011 married, honeymoon, 2012 get keys, then reno then 2013 have baby. haha, so i know how u feel. u'll be able to go thru it.

icberlin seldom see in spore.. i kinda like rayban specs. nowadays frames and lens getting real expensive.. $500 cant really get a decent spec.
