It depends.

Eye fatigue can be due to several causes. If the causes of fatigue is not known and simply wearing an "anti fatigue lens" (another fancy term for a lens from Essilor) just because your eyes feel tired will not help.

It seems like Essilor has done a wonderful job in their marketing (they have a huge budget) because there seems to be a lot of consumer awareness of their products. what with crizal lens , which many people thought are scratch proof when in fact it's just scratch resistant and anti fatigue lens, which people think will really cure their eye fatigue if they just wear one without knowing what is the cause of the fatigue.

as far as the professionals are concern, essilor is not the market leader in ophthalmic lens technology but they do a wonderful job to make consumers think they are. :D

Just to check with you, I used to stare at computer for long hours. And already old so currently got old flower eye, according to what I know, computer lens just help to protect eye from radiation only & does not really help on the increase of eye sight degree & etc.

I checked with an optician at one of the shops & he told me wearing a anti-fatigue will better for those always using computer as it help to maintain the degree of your eye & also will make your eye not so tired. He mentioned that a customer brought another pair when he felt the result is excellent which he changed to from a computer lens to this.

The price of it is expensive but looking at the long run, is it better to change to this ? :s8:

Don't let that optician chop your carrot. computer lenses aka anti fatigue lenses is just a normal "old flower eye" spectacles for reading distance approximately made to fit the distance of your computer. Just like normal reading glasses, the degree of the computer lens is made in such a way that it allows reading at the distance of the screen.

In scientific journals, it is still not proven that "radiation" from a screen (be it tv or computer) can cause any significant damage on the eyes. but computer lenses DOES relieves the eye from strain due to long hours of work on the computer screen.

And NO, there is still no proof that "radiation" from the computer causing increase in degree.
At your age, i presume you are around 40ish( start of lao hua yan), you pretty much do not need to worry about "increase in degree". It is only your lao hua that will continue to worsen and you would need more powerful "reading glasses". You would also need to have a yearly eye check up to make sure that your eyes are fine. the eye check i'm referring to would be a FULL EYE CHECK and not just the "degree" check.

Cataract would soon present itself just like everyone of us will in due time. the elderly are also more prone to changes in the retina.

thats all i have to say

not that branded lenses are scam but theses lenses actually have a lot more RnD in order for their technology to be utilized. for myself i prefer nikon lenses because of the clarity i get.

I think you probably have been misinformed by the optician. since you have old flower eye (proper term presbyopia) and if you stare at the computer screen alot, a pair or reading glasses customised for computer distance would suffice.

However, If you need to read documents and look at computer screen and abit further away, there are lenses like "office lens" which allows you to read documents up close as well as look at computer which is typically 50cm to 1m away.

so called anti fatigue lens (which hoya call theirs Remark) can also be customised for your problem but it will be more costly. whether it's better or not will have to depend on individual needs. Therefore it's important that your optician or optometrist find out what is your problems and needs before prescribing something for you. Don't just settle for package deals.

Is buying oakley prescription frame & lenses cheaper in the US? The optician there told me oakley frames are controlled pricing so its the same everywhere. Should I just buy them in sg instead for the warranty support?

oakley is international warranty. But their new earsocks worksmanship are shoddy & the ears get painful if the grip is too tight. I had 2 pairs of oakley & im unsatisfied with both fitting. Too heavy even titanium. I wouldnt recommend oakley esp for their pricing its just not worth it unless you have alot of $$$ to throw.

Life time change for nose pad and ear sock?? Many people are still asked to pay when it comes to that. and it does not cost much to change the nose pad anyway.

funny thing is, who wear their glasses for a life time? I believe most people wear it for 2 to 3 years max and they start to change their glasses. I don't believe they have warranty for wear and tear.

yes. it's call multifocal contact lens. success rate depends on the wearer's prescription, lifestyle and personality and also the optometrist skill in fitting them.

A consultation followed by a trial fitting of these lenses are recommended.

You need to bring your spec with the warranty card and receipt back to the distributor at SIS building.

Warranty definitely does not include wear and tear, but there is a replacement policy where you can pay a smaller token compare to the price you paid if it is a manufacturing fault beyond the first year.

I still have my wiretap after 5 yrs at least... been enjoying free nosepad and earsock change since.
