porsche... nose pad cannot be adjusted to pull nearer?

you see, porsche their nosepads designed in the shape of their logo, if adjust pull nearer, it will look out of shape ugly, and the nosepad arms metal is so thick i think difficult for the optician to pull. Anyway nosepad not supposed to adjust, even so can only by a bit, else risk breaking or if they not careful may make it out of shape or chip off. So i rather not take frames that nosepads need to be adjusted. Anyway, so far, i have not met an optician that can adjust nosepads that can really feel comfy on the nose. So better leave them the way they are. Sometimes after adjusting even worse than before. :(

Experienced spectacle owner, can you help to comment on the price? If it is overpriced, I will want to complain when I collect the spectacle and ask for discount. Thanks!

Resonable I would say. The frame alone should be 1k+. Enjoy your c-flex!

ic!berlin/urban/Starck/silhouette frames all dont suit me becos the lens will come out thick due to my high power.

i have tried tagheuer/oakley/porsche/swiss flex & now im wondering what other good brands i have missed out on.

i dont like the rubber on both tagheuer/oakley & their craftsmanship are just so-so. For porsche, the nose bridge are designed too far apart & for swiss flex slips down the nose far too easily.

Any other brands to suggest?

since its so troublesome for u to find ur ideal frame..have u tot about lasik?

How bad is your eyesight? mine is bad too but you can choose the thinnest lens to avoid looking like you are wearing a magnifying glass..haa

How about Hugo Boss? Some of their models "help" hid the thick lens.

tot about lasik, but not sure how good & stabilised the technology is now at this stage. U noe every once in a while, they will tell u that they have new updates/breakthroughs in technology. People who done lasik 10 yrs ago sure stand to lose alot cos technology back then wasnt good, and people who done it still cant have good eyesight. I heard that there are people who still need to wear specs after lasik.

I have a colleague who done lasik last year & told me that becos he moved his eyeball during lasik the surgery became inaccurate, a diff of 60degrees off, then as months go by, he said it has increased to about 100degrees, means he cant read the small words clearly now.

Im not sure whether how many times lasik can be done on our eyes. Any advice here? And what is the latest technology now? Is it FLEX? after they cut the thin layer off our eyes, they can store it frozen until we get old (laohua) & do a transplant back?

As lasik technology keeps getting upgraded, i will feel damn lousy if after a few years they tell you a better solution & i cant have the process reversed. And also, i heard that dry eyes not so suitable for lasik? I have dry eyes too other than having high myopia & astig. That is y i cant wear contact lens for long.

My coleague say that you cant cut your eyes too many times, else the cornea gets too thin & your eyes too dry.

Another worry is that after lasik, if i develope cataract/presbyopia in another 10yrs time, can i still undergo another eye surgery? I know that for cataract surgery, they implant an artificial lens into the eye instead. Can this be done for myopis/astig???????

my eyesight is
R - 7.75 / 2.50
L - 7.75 / 3.25

i have changed to wearing the world's thinnest plastic lens, but still thick if choose rect/angular frames that has width size of more than 53mm. Eg for those icberlin frames width 55mm or 57mm, sure thickness more than 5mm at the thickess part of the lens, which is at the edge.

i think hugo boss frames are quite angular shape? i think round frames are the best, can make the lens thinner at the edge, but not easy to find.

Porsche design frames nose pads can be adjusted. just depend on how much. Any competent optician should be able to adjust them.

that is why choosing a frame that fits properly is very inportant. if you like a frame and it doesn't sit properly on your face when you try it, get your optician to adjust them first before you buy them. don't wait until they fix the lens then do the adjustment, it will be too late if they can't adjust to sit comfortably on your face.

your degree is high but it's not really that bad. what is the axis of the astig?

if you choose a frame properly, the lens edge can still be quite thin provided your astig axis not 90.

i think mine is about 5.00-6.00 & another 2.50 to 3+..yeah rectangular shape, but whether it can hid the lens a not depends on the frame design..my frame design where it holds the lens has a bluge out so dont make e lens look that thick..but also depends on yr face structure too...if you got a round or oval face & u wear a round frame specs, it will be a sight..

If u r so particular about it, never consided lasik?

axis close to 180. But lens still thick. I got a wide face so cannot take small frames, so a frame with 53mm width in any shape will still be thick, abt 5mm thick at the edge, esp angular frame. Even with 1.74 plastic lens, comes to abt 4mm in thickness. Only with round frames then look ok.

i got a square shape, but putting on round spec still looks funny on me. But to me most important is still comfort of frame. Not easy to find.

I am not saying there is anything wrong. I am merely asking whether it has been overpriced for the same frame and lens. I am buying a Tag Heuer doesn't mean I am willing to pay more for the same thing. If I can get the same LV cheaper in other countries as compared to Singapore then I might as well just get it in other countries. Do you get what I mean? It's not about the brand or how expensive the thing is. Just like if you go eat mee and the tauke charged you 5 dollars then you notice the tauke charge the other guy the same mee for only 3 dollars. How would you feel? So it's the same thing.

My power is quite high and Tokai is the only lens maker who has the highest 1.76 index lens. That's why I didn't go for Zeiss lens.

In my professional point of view, I feel that a 1.74 and a 1.76 wouldn't make a huge difference in terms of thickness and appearence. A 1.76 may in fact be of a poorer optical quality than a 1.74. Thus I think the tokai 1.76 is a little overkill for your case. Even if you're saying that you're having a prescription of -8.00D or more. It really wouldn't make a huge difference. Therefore even the cheaper 1.74 Nikon lenses maybe a better and reasonable choice. IMHO, the price you pay is just the extra shipping costs incurred during the process.

Wow ! wide face, high prescription. You are an optician's worst nightmare.
