nice! hows the build of the spec and price when u bought it? :s13:

just to add on, my is the Matte Black one as shown in the website. that time when i buy (late last year), there are a few variations in the shop, similar to what is shown in the website.

As usual, when u buy a Gucci specs, you are paying more for the brand name then any so called "built" la. but i have no complaints abt it la so far so good. the frame itself is about 300 to 350 i forget exact price. looks professional also, so no regrets!

By the way, anyone has any tips on washing spectacles? Especially after a day's work. The frames (ear mounted area) as well as the nose support gets oily.

The staff from Kwong Shin says use mama lemon, lather into bubbles with your hands, and wash it with tap water. Will this damage the spectacles? I am concern about the coating of the lenses. Will it wear off more easily if using this method?

Is this method even the right way?

Everyday I wash my spec with water after I reach home and after every gym session. I do not use any soap.

big big optical shops at vivo city, great world city, wisma and optics munich at scotts square is ur best bet..

popular designs doesnt necessarily fit ur face. get the ones ur comfortable in.

myself would rather aim to get rare designs instead of common.

Hello, can anyone recommand me a big optical shop with lots of designer brands? I want to get a pair of Dior's or Tag Heuers and would prefer somewhere with lots of choices. Ive heard that Spectacle Hut and Optical88 charges high and would like an alternative-prefably somewhere that has good prices. Thanks.

hi everyone,

i have a budget of $150 for spectacle frame (price exclude lens) can anyone recommend which shop that has a wide range of frame that suits my budget which i can go and choose? i prefer subtle frame, not those colourful/fanciful fashionable type.

Something like this, more to rectagular shape

What kind of lens should should i get? most of the time i"ll be wearing the spectacle when i'm at home or going nearby places.

Thanks. :)

Without knowing your prescription for lenses.. dont think anyone can help u.

Entry Crizal Advance lenses cost $130.. and Crizal aren't the premium in the market yet.

will it tarnish the coating easily?

Tap water no scared la.. if lenses scared tap water, might as well dont buy?

Just like specs made of paper.. if rainning, cannot go out.. just lock urself at home. Sad right?

i've actually asked the store to demonstrate the differences between a normal pair of lens with coating and a pair of crizals. They did the scratching, water and dust? test and the results were so similar that the store owner was embarrassed.

I guess its pretty much how long the coating of a crizal would last compared to a normal pair of lens, can't really justify the mark-up though..

You guys should definitely ask stores to do the test and report back!

iirc seng li departmental store at queensway shopping centre has really a HUGE range of Tag designs, they are displayed in a separate cabinet as compared to other brands. other designer brands like prada, gucci, burberry etc can also be found.

While they have a wide range, do you think their pricing is reasonable?

Thats what i wanna know :p

As to spectacle hut, I went there once to make a pair. The service was atrocious (J8 outlet)

some ppl recommended seng li in this thread, and that's why i decided to give it a try. i feel the pricing is pretty good, have compared against those spectacle shops in shopping centres like spectacle hut etc and it's cheaper, maybe becos of rent? plus the service is pretty good, i went back twice to adjust my specs and they offer very good service. no regrets if u ask me.

Seng Li's price might not be the best in Queensway. However, their price is cheaper than the chain stores like Nanyang, Capitol, Spectacles Hut, etc, for non fix-price items. Oakley and Tag which are fixed price items, no difference. They carry mainly designer (Gucci, Coach, Prada, etc...) and popular (Oakley, Tag, IC, ByWP, etc..) frames.

Service wise, they have the same staff working there for more than 10 years. Thus service can't be too bad, rite?
