some website u can upload yr face photo then try the spec... so far i ordered 2 pair very happy with the specs.. although it is not titanium the steel frame is light and fit my face.. the nose pads are big and super comfortable.. super value for money... the lenses i ordered is index 1.5 but thinner then the local one at 1.6( i am not sure why also) With the cost of oakley and local price i can buy at least 8 to 9 pair online.:D.. u can try here coastal.com

Mine 2 pair of specs from there.. cost less then $100 included shipping :D they give free gift like cleaning spray and screw driver for yr frame too..

come in and share knowledge!

is tag heuer specs good?

I have their black half frame, not sure of the model. Very light and comfortable, but the black paint over the metal parts is very susceptible to scratch

Got it from my regular optician for 800 bucks in total.

Just curious, when we buy a pair of specs, where does the lens get cut? Like got one place that does all cutting for all optical shops or something else?

Anyways, anyone knows the the price for a pair of lenses with power of 825, basic no-frills lenses for NS. SAF have their own frame that cost $40, pixelated summore :)

Comfort and Fit

Here are some key areas to check out to make sure the eyeglass frames you choose will be comfortable and fit well.

To ensure that the temples don't dig into the side of your head, make sure the frames are wide enough for your face. The edge of the frames should protrude slightly beyond your face so that the temples don't touch your head as they extend back to your ears.

Next, make sure the temples are long enough. Opticians can order many styles in a variety of temple lengths.

The curve at the end of the temple should extend over the ear without pressing down upon it. The optician can reshape and adjust the curve at the end of the temple when your pick your eyeglasses up, but can't make the temples shorter or longer, so make sure you select the best length.

Also check the nosepiece for comfort and fit. Many glasses have adjustable silicone nose pads that allow your optician to fine-tune the fit. For frames without adjustable nose pads, make sure the fit is secure without pinching the bridge of your nose.

When you try on the frames, move your head up and down, bend over and pick up something from the floor and see how well your glasses stay in place. With the properly adjusted nose pads and temples, your glasses should stay in place without pressing on your face.

A study examined the dietary surveys filled out by 27,670 self-reported nondiabetic people aged 40 or over and monitored their medical records to see if and when cataracts developed. Strong correlations showed up between cataract risk and diet type.

The risk was greatest for high meat eaters (who ate more than 3.5 ounces of meat each day), and it decreased from one group to the next, in this order: moderate meat eaters, low meat eaters, fish eaters (people who eat fish but no other meat), vegetarians and vegans. In fact, the risk for vegans was roughly 40 percent lower than for the high meat eaters.

Does this mean you should stop eating meat? Maybe, maybe not. The study doesn't answer every question. Perhaps the reason for the lower risk is that if you eat less meat, you probably eat more vegetables. And perhaps those veggies are providing nutrients that reduce cataract risk.

Also, vegetarians and vegans may tend to lead healthy lifestyles, avoiding cataract risk boosters such as smoking, excess sun exposure and diabetes. It may be true that cataracts are inevitable if you live long enough, but living healthy just might delay them for a good long time.

Hi,

Anyone been to City Square in JB recently, heard the whole shopping mall is under-going renovation. Need to know if the optical shop at level 2 and 1 is still around.

Also, are there any shops that sell Oakley frame in KSL City Mall?

Thanks alot!

ya, 1.67.

hi square pegs, yur rimless lens look too thick for the frame, are u sure the thin frame can support the weight of the thick lens???

Also, linkskin frame although made of stainless steel but it is damn light, almost feel like wearing nothing throughout the day & v stable on ur face. Im wearing one myself, so i can guarantee that.

Hi Seannie,

I wanted to get cheaper hoya lens. I didn't like the thin frame at first cos it look so thin and fragile but bo bian still get it cos the shop's hoya lens is cheaper. The staff keep on saying don't worry, the frame is flexible. I regret getting this frame.

I went to try the linkskin frame at nanyang. it is very light and comfortable. but i sweat easily. will stainless steel change color if a person sweat easily? :s11:

When you try on the frames, move your head up and down, bend over and pick up something from the floor and see how well your glasses stay in place. With the properly adjusted nose pads and temples, your glasses should stay in place without pressing on your face.

Nice checklist. however, not many consumers will take note of all that when buying a pair of spectacles.

A good optician/ optometrist, however, will check all the above and give appropriate advice regarding the fit to the consumers before getting them to part with their money.

A lot of opticians don't care as long as the consumer like the frame even though it doesn't fit well. Why i say don't care is because when the consumer has chosen a frame and the optician tells him/her that it doesn't fit her, the consumer might change his/her mind and not look for another frame....that means lost sale for the optician. :s8:

with competition so fierce, you think they will want to lose a sale ?
