These ByWP frames seems to be quite cool. Where can I find these frames locally? Any optical shops carrying a wide range of them?

i see i see.. how much did seng li charge for your lenses?

Haha. I have bargained for a lower price for the whole spectacle package.
He told me not to reveal it out on forums, as it was a special price for me (which I highly doubt so :s22:).
He said if anybody comes into the shop, and request for the same price as mine, he will definitely identified that it would be me, who spilled the beans.

Hi xiaokaka,

i just got my Zeiss lens today. The only authenticity card they gave was a one with the Carl Zeiss Vision and Transitions logo on it. Different from what the other members posted earlier.

The fine print in the card states ZEISS, AO ans Sola are brands of Carl Zeiss Vision. The cleaning cloth that i got, has the logo of SOLA and Teflon easy car lens coating wording.

The shop claim that there is no carl zeiss laser mark can be seen after the shaping because mine is a transition.

Can you advise how i can verify that this is indeed a true ZEISS and not the cheaper SOLA or AO brand?

thank you

Look for the [Z] logo on the lens. its a laser inscription

Lens type: Clarity 1.56 LT

Price of lens: $120

Notice the Zeiss logo on both lens are not 'in line' when i place on a horizontal surface, is this normal? Like different positions.

May i know if the price i paid is ok for the Zeiss lens? What is the Axis means?

Its normal

You need to hunt for the ByWP frames. It took me 5 to 6 days going around with about 15 optical shops - some shops are very far away just looking for the correct model and lens size that I wanted and the price must be right for me. The hard work paid off for me getting the lowest price possible.

Many of the shops quoted me the RRP $550 ~ $580 and the price range is still too high for me. Even with 10% to 20% discounts depending on the shop you go to.

There are a few (3) shops who quoted below RRP $500.
A rough guide is that you should not pay more than $380 after any discount for the ByWP frame.

For example,

Shop A (Queensway) = RRP $550, I can never get the actual frame price because the shop like to package it with the lens. This one is not for me after spending 1 hour there.

Shop B (Sengkang, Parkway, C.Pt, AMK, Bt.Timah, Yishun, Thomson Plaza...) - RRP $558 after 20% off, I find the price was still too high for me.

Shop C - (down town area) I was quoted the RRP $420 and after the discount this is the one I go for. The lowest RRP$ quote I came across. I only ordered the frame and I should get it before the week ends. Then I will get the progressive lens from somewhere else.

I don't have to pay higher price for IC-Berlin, Mykita, Meyers frames and ByWP is good enough for me, having very similar design.

I hope this help.

ok let me guess and break the code.. heidel in the last post said he managed to get byWP frame at ard $380, lets assume the shop C gave heidel 10% off the RRP of $420. Heidel mentioned that he also went to shop A at queensway RRP $550, which he "can never get the actual frame price because the shop like to package it with the lens."

So i guess tat seng li shd at the maximum give you 25% off the RRP $550, which will comes to abt $400. And similarly for your hoya 1.67 lens shd come to abt $300 after discount.

All in, seng li could not have charged you less than $700. Is my guess close enough?

Wow.... guessing game. :s13:
Shop A offered me package (ByWP and lens) at $880 with Hoya progressive lens 1.53 index. Nothing more.
I never know what grade of Hoya lens, never know what the frame price and after discount price. I tried hard to asked them at least tell me more about the Hoya lens but I was told they will let me know after the sales is confirm. I told them let me go back and think very hard about it and worked out my budget.

Your guess about the frame price that I paid based on $420 with discount of 10% or even at 20% is still high price. Now I am already disclosing it too much. Take that I got a very good discount even without bargaining further. I hope they did not made a mistake of giving me that low price. Anyway somehow I already paid $50 deposit with them.

Let say at $420 - 10% off or even 20% off ... it is still relatively lower price compared to other shops that I went to. It was also my first time with the shop and I was amazed by their service. The shop carried wide range of designer eyewear. They have Lindberg, Mykita, mostly high end brand. It seems their prices for the frames are reasonable.

Seannie, for mine, I paid less than $700. :)
Wow. More than 20% off. Which downtown optical shop did you go to? Please share it with me/us (or PM me thanks!), so that I can note it down when I make new glasses in future.
I went to a few optical shops in Vivocity. I could not get the price that you have.

I went to Vivocity as well. There was a shop I found at Vivocity that offered me ByWP 11030 GY, quoted RRP $440 and after 15% at $374.

The difference between ByWP 11030 and ByWP 11032 is the lens B measurement (lens height). 11030 with 29 mm and 11032 with 32 mm.

Mostly ByWP frames are having base curves either 5 or 6. That's why I am now looking for curve lens that actually fit better with this frame. Nevertheless, ByWP are not as curve as IC-Berlin.

One of the curve lens that I am aware of is the Tokia Modecinq 1.6 and 1.7. http://www.tokai.com/en/modecinq.php
They comes with single and progressive lenses. Lens base curves comes with 4, 5 and 6 and the lens design is back-side surface progressive and aspherical design. There are also other curve lenses like Truefit.

I have already in mind where to get the Tokia Modecinq 1.6 progressive lens and I am looking whether there are other options.

less than $700 means u are getting more than 25% off the whole package which is indeed a real good deal. Most likely u may be getting 30% off or 40% which will then be a superdeal. The most i can ever get is 20% off the whole package in any optical shop. If you can find a shop which has what you want & the service you like & gives u 30% off or more than you have really found a gem.

Got a pair without lens. $10 off.
Fits a bit tight though.

Mine fits abit tight too, but after fitting with lens in a local optics store, they will help u adjust by heating/blow? for plastic frame. Now it fits just right.

i think this is very bad sales. Why would they let you know what kind of lens they are giving for that price only when you confirm the sales ?? the only reason i know of is they don't want you to "shop around". And they are not confident of their pricing that's why they adopt such sales technique.

I certainly hope they don't quote you the wrong price. :p if they had underquote, they could persuade you to make lens with them so as to compensate for their under quotation for the frame.

If you are amazed by their service, I am curious why you didn't get your lens from them . :s11:
