If I'm not wrong, Ashland wallets are not handstitched. If you're going to spend $300 on a wallet, I would recommend sourcing for a crafter who handstitches his/her own saddle stitch.

Definitely not many which is why it's worth paying such crafters for them to stay afloat. Here's one of my personal favorites but be warned, his lead time can be extremely long.

One of my friend here has commissioned from Faler a custom #4 shell cordovan exterior and natural interior. Pics as shown. I would love to give him a try but my Corter shell bifold is still holding up great so can't justify another shell cordovan wallet.

As for luxury brands with shell cordovan, I would advise staying away. The machine stitch just doesn't do the leather justice.

This particular wallet was 280usd inclusive of shipping. The cost varies depending on what materials you choose. A full shell cordovan with exterior and interior will be slightly more expensive, probably above 300usd since the one shown above is only an exterior shell cordovan wallet.

Nope. If I have a chance I'll take some close up pics of mine from Corter. Shell cordovan is actually very thin and not exactly any thicker than other veg tan leather.

It's really hard to photograph shell cordovan wallets because the nature of the leather is just so complex. It's always best seen in person under natural light. With each person I show, I poison one person with shell cordovan.
