Looking to get a quartz watch for my dad. Budget about 1.5 to 2k.

Considering TH... any other good brands?

yup. modern classic & very collectible. most WIS/watch nerds agree & are crazy about this watch. if you see one reasonably priced - just grab. won't lose value and will only gain in the long term.

I really like the wave texture on the dial, too bad i went with the Chrono when i bought it... lose value gaogao in 3yrs...

I always think that buying a watch (watch collection) is want and not a need. It's a hobby where you use your spare cash (not reserves). It should not be used as an investment (at least not most pieces can appreciate in value). Value retention is a plus. Just allocate a certain percentage of your income and stick to it.

totally understand where you're coming from slow_mo dai kor.

that's just my pov given my very limited funds & tight budget. i'm trying to discipline myself so I won't splash unnecessary cash on impulse buys that will languish at one corner, and be more discerning so my collection won't lose much of its value over time.

the wave texture is only apparent under bright intense sunlight/LED/halogen light. it looks like an ordinary black dial under softer lighting/at a distance. therein lies the interesting, never boring nature of the dial! and the dial printing is so well done that it appears to float above the wave ridges - not easy results to achieve. really love this watch! potential to make me a one watch man.

there's still opportunity to snag a good 2254.50 at a good price. just be patient & be on the lookout. avoid those carrot top dealer prices online. cheers!

now patiently waiting for a near mint 2538.20 Great White to pop up at a good price.
