Hm I tried it on, didn't like the feeling of the bracelet. That's the main drawback. I'm a sucker for white watch face with blue hands

For me the joy of having an automatic watch is marveling at the engineering and how the components work together to still track time relatively accurately.

An automatic watch will never be perfect at timekeeping. Quartz accuracy is sadly better. So as long as your watch isn't way off specs, just chill la.

Agree. No point losing sleep over that +/-3 or 5s per day.

To gain/loss 1 min also need to take abt 2 weeks if u wear it daily. And I'm sure 99% of the people here have more than one watch to rotate. By then you would need to adjust the time again anyway.

Hello everyone.

It was a long time since my last posts in watch thread.

Actually I have a dilemma, and I would like to hear some opinions.

I have taken a fancy to Seiko SARB 033 / 035 for some times. My initial plan is to buy SARB 035 after I have gotten my June pay, which is end of this month.

However, as time goes by, it strikes me that the job market now is very bad. Currently I am not affected yet, but sooner or later, it surely will. Most likely I will not be retrenched, but I will not rule out the possibility that I might have a pay cut.

Furthermore, I have just applied 2 room SOBF flat in May, and will also apply BTO in August. This means I also need to consider on saving for my future home + renovations cost.

What do you think? Should I stick to my initial plan, or should I hold the purchase till later?

SARB 033 will not cause a dent in your future home + renovation costs. Not sure how much you earn, but if you need to think twice/ thrice about that, I think you should hold it off till later. Else, ask yourself, is that your spare cash (not reserve)? Do you need to "eat grass" just to buy that watch?

Winding and adjusting the time... That's part of enjoying the watch. Everything else, for dead accurate watch, just get one which syncs with phone/GPS/radio.

I still remember my grandpa calling 1711 to adjust his watch, then using his watch as reference to adjust the clock. Every morning without fail

Reason of buying the watch using June salary is because June is a bonus month. If the bonus I received was the same as last year, I will not have a problem to purchase the watch.

It is just that I tend to find that it is only in bonus months that I will be able to save much more $$ than other months.

Plus the market now is not good. My bonus / pay in future might be affected.

That's why I keep thinking on this.

However, I will not rule out the possibility of getting the watch online for rewarding myself working hard for the 1st 6 months of Year 2016.

SARB price is not going to make a huge difference for your home/renovation plans.

If you really like the watch just get it, cos one could make an argument that being practical would mean that you should just wear a Casio basic digital watch. But I guess most of us watch lovers have already let go of some amount of practicality.

I already have about 18 or 19 watches, of which about 50% are Seiko watches, 1 Citizen and 1 Orient watch.

If I really talk about practical, I will just wear the watches I have, and need not think of this question.

i oso dont uds why some people complain of tt +/- few seconds...
how long would such "problem" be before it becomes a matter of minutes and even so, how critical would it be to our daily lives?

the only exception of people whom i can excuse for complaining about the inaccuracy of time (for a matter of mere seconds) are erm, astronauts...pilots...people in the special forces, who else?
