I would love to buy a Rolex but somehow I cant really appreciate Rolex.

I kinda like Panerai especially because of its chunky and unrefined feel.

The other watch I'm considering is the Tudor Heritage Black Bay Bronze

I lean towards the Black bay bronze or the Pelsgos

000, 112, 176, 390 are the ones i know. epitome of pam. 2 hands, 3 6 9 12 and nothing else. but at the moment, pam not a very hot item.

I was looking at 112 because of the clear backcase but i got tempted by the 1950 series

One of the reason why many people recommend Rolex is the resale value, past market trends have shown that certain models of Rolex holds its value well. For some, they use Rolex as a placeholder before flipping it for their grail.

End of the day, it really boils down to what you like, as you will be the one wearing it.

I guessed it boils down to the one's comfort level. I wished I can appreciate Rolex

No way my friend, I'm very much the same as everyone here with a deep passion for watches. Winding a manual watch at the end of the day is incredibly therapeutic.

Ur collection is a dream for many of us here.

Agree that u gotta have deep passion to wind ur watch everyday or two!

Well... When Tudor had a booth just below my office a couple of weeks back, that kinda reinforced my temptation..

My colleague was telling me that since ETA movement price and in house doesn't differ a lot, might as well get the In house movements.

It's really up to you. I have an ETA Pelagos because saw a second hand one at good price and whack.

The Saxonia, JLC MUT and Zenith has since made way for the 5960.

My suggestion is don't go for Panerai if your wrist size small. It's to me a very loud watch, but that's personal preference.. I very much prefer watches that keep under the radar.

my personal opinion is skip the 112. the movement is beyond ugly so better to hide it behind a closed caseback.

Well I do agree Panerai is a pretty loud watch though. I did like Panerai Luminor 1950 series but what's stopping me is that most of the 1950s are using the P.900X series caliber, especially the P.9000 where many complained that it doesn't even last 3 years and you have to send in for servicing. But it's a hit or miss case.

I think you guys can classify me as a pretty loud person

If really going for a similar look/design, I would recommend the Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5167.

Similar to audio equipment, there's so many places to try things out, although some models of watches are harder to find in store. I recall there being a waiting list for the Tudor Black Bay Bronze, but I saw one in Cortina@Raffles City.

As always, good deals can always be sourced, either in the pre-owned market, grey market or authorized dealers, though it requires patience and effort.
