if the seller say "yes, this one cfm is grade AAA" -> u know liao
if the seller fug you upside down, u know its actually a authentic watch

Guys, just curious, what's the typical depreciation range for a regular Rolex sports (eg sub, gmt2... not referring to ceramic daytona), if you were to buy BNIB grey and sell 6mths later with reasonable scuffs?

My friends told me rollie might as well buy new coz lose very little even if flip in 6 mths. But I lost like 17% over 6 years (bought grey bnib), howcome they say until lugi afew % only.

that's not a fool-proof way of finding out.

For new watches, I would look for boutique/s or ADs although I have bought from online sellers before.

Have not gotten confident enough to buy used although I would from fellow brothers here. GS, anyone?

無論是h'w'z還是wus，還是其他多數論壇，都拒絕討論假錶課題。從正面角度來看，是杜絕假錶資訊的滲入。從負面角度來看，是＂假教學，真賣假＂。但是從我中立立場來看，將假錶擺上檯面，能夠增加對於辨認假貨的辨識度。。。加強意識。

目前只有師兄你一人要求我提供連接。。。我覺得不夠。或者再等其他九個成員要求吧，至少不會容易招惹反感。。。

if you know that you're going to introduce "reasonable scuffs" to your rollie (either via carelessness or lifestyle), there's little sense in buying BNIB imo. why not just get pre-owned? just my 2c.

short answer:

a 6 mth into 1st ownership sale fetched higher cos outstanding warranty is still valid.

your 6 yr watch is already out of warranty.

other factors in play:

imho, there's a break even point graph in which inflation will nudge the resale prices of rolex watches up in the long run.

watch depreciation is a given. older watches will fetch less. cos wear and tear.

but desirability and scarcity play a big part in watch re-sale value.

unpopular watches will suffer more in depreciation.

and not every rolex model is equally desired.

if you want to lose as little as possible, aim for those whereby its age and desirably has already been priced well-in, and has moved little in years.

I sold my rolex explorer (Bought March 2016 BNIB from grey dealer) recently and loss about 20% , watch was almost one year old and had some scuffs that need to polished off.

Watch shops will only take in for 5K, managed to sell higher than that closer to 6k.
People on carousell offering 4.5k-5k >_>

For sports model seems like explorer is less "desirable" than subs/GMTs and loses more in value

Think subs hold their value the best especially BLNR.

欣賞假錶的，是r'w'g。。。也是你們如果用英語搜尋，經常顯示的搜索成績。

大陸論壇也是不鼓勵假錶，但不拒絕討論如何辨認。一般上，只要你見到貼題上有＂求鑒定＂，就有機會小小學習。

usually fakes have a higher chance of slipping through from private sales when watches are not properly authenticated.

buying from reputable dealers whether irl or online can minimize this risk cos scamming their customers will end their business very quickly.

buying the genuine full set will also help in securing a higher value in future transactions, as they come with genuine warranty card/paper allowing the watch serial number to verified to movement+case+documentation, service history (if any), extra links, inner/outer boxes, etc.
