bros, as a rolex noob, my cursory research into my polar exp II revealed that for a very brief period/production run, the 16570 came with BOTH a holes case AND SELs, before it transitioned finally to a NON holes case & SELs.

that led me to erroneously assumed that the same may have happened to the 14060M. unfortunately, it appears that the 14060M NEVER had SELs.

major, MAJOR bummer! :(

i like the minimalist, no date, 2-liner dial of the 14060M. but i rather have a SEL rolex sub to match with my SEL polar exp II.

which means i'm left with the the 16610 sub date if i want a black dial rolex sub with similar case/lug size and SELs as my 16570 polar exp II.

OR flip my z series NO holes case SEL 16750 for a holes case, non-SEL deal tritium 16570 polar exp II to match with an equally dead tritium, non-SEL, rattly 14060. (which i haven't warm up to).

arrrrrggggghhhhhhh.......... stupid 1st world problems.

lol just buy 2 original SEL can alr lor.

play watch like you so stress jin cham.

collecting means fun, if stress, no fun then for what.

if by stress, you mean the expectation-reality gap, then it exists. will need time & reflection to reconcile.

apparently, the 14060m isn't designed to take an original SEL.

so... bro indigo22 (and owners bros of 14060Ms) what's your ownership experience of a non-SEL bracelet 14060M when compared to your SEL rolexes?

I enjoy my Non SEL bracelet for its light weight. I even enjoy the irritating rattle that accompanies a hand or wrist shake. SEL and non SEL have their own charms and tt01 i encourage u to try it out before an outright rejection.

Don't think you can buy SELs standalone, they are usually attached permanently to the bracelet, notwithstanding the fit issue you pointed out.

What is SEL? Pardon my noobness

the end pieces of a watch's bracelet that fits between the lugs of a watch case can be divided into 2 types:

1. SEL = solid end links, which is milled out from a solid piece of metal. they're sturdier, more substantial, more reassuring and will not bend out of shape. they protect the spring bars better (from being bent out of shape).

as opposed to:

2. folded end links, which are just stamped metal pieces shaped to fit over the lugs. they can be bent. they offer poorer protection of the spring bars. and they feel lighter, cheaper, and contributes to the rattling sound (along with any folded links in the bracelet).

i dont have a SEL rolex to compare, but i've tried it before

in all honesty, i'm not really too concerned about it la...its part n parcel of the history of the watch...

i'll be concerned if there is misalignment of my submariner, or typo error (though tt would then be more "limited edition" haha), but these kinda bracelet thing, i'm cool about it :D

thanks, bro All in a Day! your pov is helpful. after all, the 5513s, 1680s all have FELs... and folded links too (yikes!).

i'm just obsessed with pairing up a matching black dial rolex diver with my white dial polar exp II to get another 黑白双魔 duo like my 2254.50/2538.20 GMT great white. :D

is there a diagnosis for such an affliction? :s13: and what's the cure? =:p

thanks for your input, bro indigo22!

with FEL rolexes being vintage, it's a matter of time you'll be adding a SEL bracelet rolex in your collection (unless you're poisoned by the vintage bug). :D
