Lol all the yp do hei one wearing gold nauts. No joke.
Then you're wrong. RM is getting alot of traction. If you know watches. You know RM as the "high end" watch.
Exactly, both nauts and RM actually. In fact I've seen a lot more RM on flashy insurance agents and YP than I've seen them on "actual collectors"
Rolex was never Haute. Lol. They're a watch maker that makes everyday watches that last.
The way I see it, they are the G-Shock of the luxury watch market. Sturdy tool watches that get the job done, not much complications.

Rolex doesn't claim to be fine watch-making, they're tool watches. If you see their marketing, they're targeting sports and exploration now. https://www.rolex.com/world-of-rolex.html

Their dress line such as Datejust and Day-Date are also very successful (just not with the hypebeasts). You're right that they are not haute horology, but Rolex doesn't claim to be.

They just have been a symbol of success for so long that they got picked by many, including the hypebeasts who just want to show off. In the same way PP doesn't market to hypebeasts, but the Nautilus is kind of falling victim to becoming the new hypebeast watch, along with AP's Royal Oak.

That said, it's important not to overlook how important Rolex has been in putting Swiss watchmaking on the map. Yes, they are not the fine watch-making, but they are the gateway brand that introduces many collectors into the world of Swiss watches.
why does rolex price it at a pricepoint above JLC and G.O.?

the movement is without decoration, just a simple workhorse, a rubbish at the inflated market pricepoint

Speaking about insurance agent, I beri particular on what watch they wear when they engage me. I only talk to those wearing Rolex Sports Model, never waste time on those wearing datejust (unless its a female agent).

They must know as well as look that part of being a successful agent. (This one is my former boss teach me one, he wear full gold daydate or daytona on days when meeting clients, other days will be steel rolex sports)

I come across 1 agent wearing DW watch before, gotten so turn off that I just walk away. (True Story)

Rolex doesn't dictate the inflated market price point. That's just hype that may go up or down.

Tudor was created as a budget alternative to Rolex to capture the lower pricepoint market. It has no brand heritage except to be a budget alternative. As a collector myself that's my problem with Tudor, I won't put a "budget alternative to a Rolex" on my wrist instead of a Rolex while I can afford it. To people who see watches as just the material and do not care for the brand story, yes Tudors have that appeal.

Which is quite ironic because you claim to be a horology connoisseur but you don't care about brand story, seemingly only decoration and material.

Unfortunately Rolex can't help it that people wear Rolex to flex. Like we've said, just because YP wear PP and AP to flex, does that mean those brands aren't worth their salt anymore?

good reply, but unfortunately it's too much for his thick skull. his blind jealousy/hatred for Rolex obscures the truth for him.

Wow this is the dumbest, most shallow thing I’ve read in this thread.

Why don’t you just go kill yourself you worthless piece of crap.

Trust me your kid isn’t going to be worse off without you.

hmm wrong conception of tudor now, yes it was created to be the cheaper and available to the masses at a comfortable price point.
now, i don't think it's a cheaper version of rolex. more like the younger version of rolex.
it was never advertised as a luxury watch. the audience are younger people or young execs. therefore they advertise their PR as able to tank over the weekend. you don't see rolex saying that.

the tudor pelagos is 6k+, compared to Omega actual main models, almost same price.

Rolex is the best watch to buy because it's can be easily prawned and still can get back a good price.

But then Rolex watch is never an investment because of rate of inflation.
