People might think you're trolling because the level of attention to detail and care that you are asking for is not reasonable to ask for in buying Seiko. It is akin to asking Giordano to check the stitching and find you a t-shirt with no loose ends for you to buy.

Are you super ocd with the minor scratches etc? Can consider like new condition at carousell for much cheaper than that. Choose from reputable seller who have sell many watches in the past if you can. Even can sell back without much loss if you don't like it after purchase.

I say this because you are planning to wear it for daily beater for 10 years anyway. No point to get it new then you cannot sleep once you knock it to something. I'm quite careful person but sometimes still have very faint scratches after hit some stuff during daily wear.

it was very very hard knock, was surprised no scratch no marks

its not whether you are a seasoned watch enthuiast anot. a seasoned enthuiast will probably not bother about that minor alignment issues with that seiko model cos he shld already know that if he decides to get it.

everyone feels paying 1.4k for a watch is crazy, not just novice or enthuiast, money is hard earned and shld be well spent. get something u like, wear something u like and enjoy it. u will probably spend alot more time thinking about the many different models out there with pros and cons then half a year later u are still considering your options wherelse u could have been wearing the watch u fancy for duration.

I actually have a good gauge of what's out there in the market with my tiny budget.

It all boils down to me actually hahaha.

I have shortlisted these watches to satisfy my itch for anyone curious.
Anyone with a budget of SGD$2000 (strictly no further top-ups) may want to take a look at this list just for reference and consideration. Oh, I am a "one-watch" type of guy, I realized there are about 5 distinct and different types of personas for watch collectors.

Seiko King Samurai (SGD$572.05)​

Thickness: 12.8mm, Diameter 43.8mm, Lug-to-Lug: 48.7mm​

Steinhart Ocean 1 GMT Black Ceramic (I wonder if I can deal with the "shame" of wearing a homage, this is the best specs in terms of movement accuracy and design one can get at this price range), ​

Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 ​

Integrated bracelet looks somewhat weird for people with a smaller wrist size​

Seiko SPB143 (SGD$1467.14)​

Best contender, planning to get this but might want to give the MM200 reduced some considerations​

Interesting list! Amongst these, the PRX definitely has my vote, great introduction to Swiss watch-making, and it kind of has the 5711 vibe that you'd liked since young.

will go into their shop and try it on my wrist when they have it in Singapore

my friend who has an actual royal oak says the dimensions and strap integration is a bit weird angle wise and told me to check out how it wears before pulling the trigger

Can take a look at girard perregaux laureato if you like the octagon look. And tudor north flag if you like integrated bracelet.

Most importantly, quick gpgt your purchase whatever it may be.

They launch islandwide tomorrow so you could check which store is closest to you and go see.

Indeed the royal oak wears huge for its size due to the shape of the case, it tends to favor larger wrists.

You can try to look at SPB147 or SPB239 also if you like the classic BB58. Same form size as 143. Unless the BB58 you are referring to is blue color version.

Am trying to decipher why is the naming convention of the SPB239 different from the likes of the SPB143 or the SPB147

Because their specs are 100% the same
But yet it is named 2xx instead of 1xx

Both use the 6R35 movement
Both use stainless steel with "super hard coating"
Both have identical dials (besides the color, one black one "bronze")
Both 200m Diver
Both have the same case size

the only difference I can see is the strap for SPB147 vs SPB239
and also the colors of the hands are different (gold for the 147 and normal stainless steel color for 239)
