I've also been looking at Amazon and it costs USD1,140 which shouldn't be more than $1.6K after shipping and taxes. These are sold by other shops and fulfilled by Amazon; anybody have any experience buying from these shops in Amazon before? Also, they mentioned that as their prices are lower than List Price, their watches do not have AD warranty but they will honor any warranty claim themselves based on the same duration.

as people become smarter and wealthier, sooner or later, what you wear is no longer a symbol of wealth, but a symbol of your substance.

AP = rich but dumb carrot head.
U-Boat = kena conned big time and someone who is not familiar with watches
Rolex = show off, no decisive action to choose his or her watch, a crowd follower

care to share your review of tag heuer (owners)? :o

yea most entry lvl jlc are boring. that's why i am more interested in the reverso...kinda grew attracted to it when i first saw it. lol

as for rolex cannot wear to overseas, then simply switch to a less expensive watch loh. haha

the reverso has many random LEs too. remember the batman and raffles hotel LEs recently? :s22:

Yes tsovet comes in quartz movement iirc.

they do have auto but crazy overpriced:

AUTOMATIC

i don't work at far east. I don't really get your question on where i am working.

Yes, i am studying part-time and working full time. With various other priorities, i would have to weigh the pros and cons.

I was initially thinking i could get a seiko monster snp313 to get hold of a rugged feeling.

Then tissot visodate as my graduation piece, something for office as well.

Slowly, stowa flieger, as something fanciful, however, not so soon.

good you've gotten your priorities straight. just buy what you like and can afford. don't be sucked into the whole "a watch determines the wearer's personality and status" because that can be applied to everything else u own and wear (clothes, shoes, car, wallet, etc) - only the insecure define their self-worth by the material goods they own.

priorities and goals change over time, as will watch taste (and the perceived value/standing of the different brands). build up your collection slowly. good luck! :)

I've been looking at the Hamilton Jazzmaster Maestro Auto Chrono 41mm (H32576515) for a while now and I've gotten a consistent quote of $1.9K from the 3 watch shops I've visited (WoS, Vincent Watch & something else). It's a nice watch but was wondering if it can be had for cheaper? Any shops to recommend?

I've also been looking at Amazon and it costs USD1,140 which shouldn't be more than $1.6K after shipping and taxes. nice piece but the lack of a seconds indicator (hand or sub-dial) kills it for me.

IWC sells out

Walked past the IWC shop at Ion.... and saw to my horror that they displayed some models with what looked like a ring of *diamonds* around the bezel! I know they have to kowtow to the Chinese market, but, jeez, couldn't they have left that kind of crap to Rolex? Or are they after the pink dollar? Sad.
Next door is the new [to me] Lange shop. No customers. Wonderful watches with dreary ah pek designs. Also sad.

Has it ever occurred to you that those could be targetted at the ladies?

chris has his own views on watches, as with anyone else.
to me, its your money, u buy what u think its worth, and of cos within your own means.

between milgauss and explorer, i go with the explorer.
JLC reverso with ostrich strap very swee too, but i think it will be nicer on a woman's wrist. im considering getting one for my wifey.

most impt is that u like it and wear it. :)

ROLEX is always in the mindset & positive perception of ppl associated as being successful... remember Dai TianYang said in his past interview that he will go also for ROLEX watch likewise similar those success in China.... Anyway there are other brands that's worth much sought after. As long as u happy & willing to pay.... best wishes !! :)

BTW, I prefer Explorer II to Milgauss. JLC is gd prestige brand but personally I will go for IWC Portofino/ Portuguese though believe slightly ranked lower.

IWC might be putting more resources and efforts to launch exclusive models trying to get some market share at China luxury rich and famous....nowadays ladies have higher consumer power to spend in addition to cosmetics, leather bags, shoes etc... :)

Appreciate very much to share us your goals.... pls work towards it and realize your dream!! As the other bro said, your priority may change as life moves on....

If u still stick to Visodate, suggest u get black one to constrast since you got white BB. Hope not only move up corporate ladder, pls look into moving up luxury watch profile :)

I am new to watches, buying a brand new Rolex is kind of too over priced for me, but I am contemplating to get a 2nd hand one.

Any advise on $5000 is it enough to purchase a 2nd hand Rolex and any recommendation on where to get it?

Thanks.

I will go for brand new SMP ..... or other luxury in that price range...
There are many shops in Chinatown selling ROLEX 2nd hand and somehow its image wise....not so gd leh... anyway my opinion. :)

i tried the explorer 2 once, and i dun like it, especially the bezel. i already have a portofino, so would like to expand my collection to include the milgauss or explorer. have not tried out the milgauss yet, so will find some time to go down next year.

went with fren to check out JLC couple of months back, and i must say on first look at the reverso it oozes class all ard. and that's when i know i will get it, just a matter of when oni lol :s13:
