Even if rolex is as bad as Kohchris says, the good thing about rolex is it can retain its monetary value more than any other brand :)

Can we all just focus on watch appreciation rather than brand bashing? After all, this thread is created for advice and appreciation isn't it?

Do you guys bring so much cash money on a trip?
Or use credit card to pay? Limit S$5,000 how to pay? Two cards?

Are you aware that you can call up the bank and ask them to temporary raise the credit limit. Last time before I went oversea for a month, I called the bank and they increase the credit limit 1.5x for me. :)

Thought nowadays, the credit limit for most banks are 5X of your basic salary ?

I just tell you this la. You go orchard road, you throw small pebble on anyone, the person is confirm wearing either sub/exp/daytona.

if you wear sub, you want so many people to wear sub oso? might as well wear casio rite

hate to admit it...but chris is right in a way..

rolex getting way too common as a luxury watch...

just take a walk around orchard especially ion. look at ppl's wrists, most common luxury watch will be rolex sub, next will me Pam..

but there must be a reason why its so popular? other than holding value, I guess its the quality and reliability...

there are other brands that r equally expensive but with lots of quality issues.

The only watch brand the aunties n uncles at wet markets knows are Rolex.
It's a universal show of wealth.
I am saving up. To get one for my next birthday next year. Assuming each month I save $500, I will need 12 months to reach $6,000 just nice to buy my first Rolex.
A good and reliable watch like Rolex, would be my first entry to high watches!

I just bought a Rotary quartz watch from a forumer here for my birthday last month.
Slowly I am learning how to appreciate mechanical watches.

while i dun realli understand why kohchris bro always like to take so much trouble posting so much hatred against rolex :s13:, but there is certainly truth in what he said. even the uncle selling kopi-o to me, fishball noodle stall uncle at the coffeeshop near my workplace are wearing it, and also taxi driver driving me also wearing a rolex, just depicts how common and mainstream rolex is.

i myself have a datejust passed down to me, but the designs have not really changed much to warrant me buying another rolex piece at the moment.....

all these bashing is just stupid. feels like one of the many "apple vs android" arguments. really? who cares? you like the watch then can already luh...

just imagine a scenario, lets say ppl call u a "sheep" for buying rolex and following the crowd/stereotype etc, and to a certain extend it is true base on the image of rolex as a luxury watch brand (in truth, its just mid tier, but thats another topic altogether). but after awhile you still find yourself liking the watch very much, does that still make you a sheep? or is it because you really like the watch? No one can answer that, only yourself. and even if you did try to convince ppl that you really like the watch, they wont believe u, so why bother?

to me, rolex is still a good watch coy. can't go wrong with rolex. but if you're buying it for yourself or buying it for others, then its a totally different topic, one that is irrelevant on whether rolex is a good watch coy to begin with.

good point to note is Santos 100 was the first wristwatch that flew lol

Ballon Bleu is nice, but some may find it a little feminine

their Calibre De Cartier is beautifully executed sporty piece too, love the case shape

WUS Feature: Calibre de Cartier Put To The Test

Very nice indeed! Thanks :)

although i must admit (cause i do have a few rolex), this kohchris mentioned some things that are true. but also a lot is unjustified, like the reason why is it the most counterfeited luxury watch brand etc. again, as with many things, you buy for yourself and what you value most in your perception.
