OT abit.... Isit a gd time to change yen to keep? Planning to go in a few yrs time....scared of the radiation now cause planning for a kid.

for the past decade whenever it hits around 1.27 I will change some to keep.

Have been changing quite a bit recently. Usually I bring my folks et. al. so our expenditure is 5 figures type. So it does matter somewhat.

But if you say a few years time..... I dunno man. That's quite a far off time scale. You probably can do more with the money now than lock it in another currency. Who knows, you may decide not to go by then.

Most watches I see in AMAZON.com, the warranty is from the Seller. not from the manufacturer. Anyone here bought watches from Amazon.com which came with mfg warranty?

If the places you intend to visit are not affected then there isn't a need to be concerned. If the places you intend to visit are affected then putting it off a few years wouldn't make a difference cause radiation takes a very very long time to go away. Just look at Chernobyl. :)

3 years still long lah.

Our honeymoon was Japan as well, back in christmas 2005. Back then yen was almost 1.5. Some more I just graduated only and worked hardly a year. Things see already also don't dare to buy. Super expensive then.

With the weaker yen things are more affordable. Not to mention the increase in income since then.

There is another watch shop with an online website, around akihabara area but I just can't freaking remember the name. I used to surf that website a lot back then for the chronoswiss opus. Another watch I also like is the Breguet La tradition.

Ya to each his own lah.

To me, Japan holds a lot of memories for me. The food, the atmosphere, the shopping, the friends......too good to give up; or else I wouldnt have gone there every year for the past decade.

Am thinking of bringing our kids and retracing our honeymoon route with them. Take pictures at the same spot.

Does that mean that buying watches from jap sites will be cheaper too? I think so right?

Absolutely. In fact I think they are cheaper because of the yen. Imagine it had been like around 1.5 for the longest time (except in 2008). Almost 20% cheaper now.
