And really, dont buy a watch for perceived second hand value. Buy what you like and what you will wear. Or just go straight for the brand (like me, the brand *****).

The second-hand value thing is still a mystery to me. It's like a pre-nuptial agreement: thinking that way at the outset is guaranteeing a divorce.

Being a brand ***** is more understandable. But you can overcome it with enough will-power. I have done it for watches; I honestly love my UTS more than any other watch I have, ETA movement and all. I'm trying to overcome it with cars, but that is turning out to be a lot more difficult....

Ball and Brietling, 2 different price range? Breitling is priced much higher compared to Ball. Just go down to Ion, Taka, Wisma...many large watch boutiques concentrated there.

Personally would choose Ball over Brietling, more bang for the buck. Brietling prices i would rather whack Omega..

My budget is about 3-4k, looking at both the brands to try on. Both designs are acceptable to me.

Ball Engineer hydrocarbon looks great!

U really have to try it on. Weird or not is a very personal thing.
Never buy a watch you have never tried.

This is very true.. Over the weekend I had decided to get AP ROO Panda from THG but the SA advise me against it as he told me it will not looks nice on me as it is too big. The SA took it out to let me try and indeed it looks weird on my wrist.

After that he recommend Hublot big bang which he commented it will looks good on me and he selected few models of it for me to try on. Surprisingly the selected models fits me very well and had a hard time deciding which to get. Prior to this I did not consider Hublot before as the pictures of the watches not not stir any interest in me. But the looks of Hublot is so much better as compared to pictures.

Eventually I settled for his recommendation as I am very impressed with his skill to recommend watches based on the overall looks of a person. Tho still disappointed that I am not suitable for AP, but I am still happy with my Hublot purchase.

IMHO, THG is pushing Hublot quite a bit. It even took over the Cartier counter at Taka.

I tried the panda too but didn't like how it looked on my wrist. May get a black theme instead.

if I want a RO with a display back, which models should I be looking at huh?

The part on no receipt is probably to protect themselves. Not so much on warranty but the discount may be more than what omega allows.

OK thanks everyone. It's actually a very well known AD in Malaysia. So I've decided to hoot this Omega PO since I've been looking for this for quite some time. Discount is also good.

Shall post pics for all when bought!

I guess they are pushing because they are the dealer around this region? Even my wife who was not interested in watches liked the Hublot that he had recommend to her.

Not sure which RO has a display back but I saw AP RO perpetual calendar which looks quite nice and you can go and try it out see how it looks on your wrist. If I am not wrong black theme and panda has the same case size. So if panda does not look good due to its size then it should be the same for black theme (which is the case for me). But again it might be the color of the dial of panda that does not looks good on you and a black face might suits you better.

same here. the SA was trying REALLY hard to push Hublots to me and my wife. I will still go for an AP - I'm a brand *****.

I guess it could be the colour too but then again..... I did not get a black face daytona becos black looks strange on my wrist - got the white instead.

At least you can get rolex.. My SA told to stay away from Rolex as will not look good in it. Looking back.. my GMT2 (without C) does not really stand out on me instead my IWC pilot chrono looks better which he concur.

Morning everyone.

I have skinny wrist which measured at 6 inches flat. Do you think a Sinn U1 (44mm) would look awkward on my wrist?

my wife has a 6" wrist and she was trying on a UX and U1 and U2 at THG for fun, and yes it does look a little too big on her, it is also a relatively "tall" watch.

Plus if you buy it on the rubber strap, even if you cut it to the last hole the rubber strap will still be too big and the default deployment clasp will be too big as well. For 6" wrist you will need to ask if they can swap out the standard big deployment clasp for a Sinn butterfly deployment clasp...then it should fit more or less..

u super heng.

collectorstime.com selling the hydrocarbon - on sale

Ball | Collectors Time

Oh wow, thanks. But unfortunately this is not the hydrocarbon I was looking at. Is this retailer reliable? This is my first proper watch and I'm abit concerned from getting off an online retailer. Authenticity being the main concern.

Oh damn. Was hoping that Low end Breitlings will be at approximately 4k.

Another for ball, seems they only have bracelets? I prefer rubber as this will be a daily beater.

Maybe you are right.... But overall it fits me and most importantly my wife agrees too and that is why I decided go for it.
