Scratches are inevitable, especially for daily-wear watches. No matter how careful you are, there is no way to avoid them.
When I was younger, I was very anal about scratches. But through the years, I've learned to have a relaxed attitude about it. That in turn made wearing watches a lot more enjoyable cos there's no cloud hanging over your head to nag you to be careful.
I'm not saying to take your Patek 6002G to go mountain climbing. But take your Rolex Exlorer for a swim or a fun day out to the beach with your family and don't sweat about it.
Nobody in their right minds would constantly whack their watches, regardless of price, so hard that there would be really deep scratches that won't polish out. For the times that it happens, it'd be an accident. For the other small scratches, a decent watch maker or the AD can easily polish them out. Or change the crystal if necessary.
