Let him buy what he wants to buy. At different stages in life, his wants will be different. If he can afford it, why not. He can sell it off easily if he needs the cash thereafter (it's a PP).

When I'm his age, I was in the army thinking where to go when I book out. Never did have much savings due to the miserable army allowance. Never even thought about buying a PP (used to think that Rolex and IWC is the best). Fast forward to now (about double his age), would love to own a PP, but got to keep some savings for the family. I don't earn as much as some of the big players here but enough keep my family afloat.

Bottom line... Buy what you want to buy if you have the spare cash. Take it as an investment if you want to sell it later.

Watch thread... Must not OT... Here's a bedtime pic...

this thread is filled with evil, poisonous people.

It does look like some Zenith El Primeros I saw before.

I am going to bed. :p

I have one last thing to add.

Most of the folk here are well-adjusted, level-minded people. One of the things that I enjoy the most about this thread is how the discussion can go from PP to Seiko without skipping a beat. It's quite cool how someone like Yatto became one of the main instigators of the thread's Orient Bambino and Seiko 5 diver infatuation, despite being an owner of watches that cost 100x more.

JDR, I'm sure that as an impressionable young man, you look up to some of the posters here. I think that's fine since most of these guys are good examples to follow. However, you're going about it the wrong way. Nobody got where they are today spending their free time bragging about wanting to buy X or Y watch for hours on end. You can call yourself a brand-*****, and claim that you only want the best, but keep in mind that people like Yatto(since you are so obsessed with him) have earned the right to be this way, and you have not even come close.

Work harder, and then you'll have something to show for it.

I'm not sure how tailored your post was meant to be or whether that was even attempted. But that aside, I'm very curious how you know or have found out where I am :s11:

I do look up to some posters; they sure aren't impressionable by any stretch of the imagination.

Strangely I can't find a lot of preowned 112 for sale but no one wants to buy or enquire about mine as well ever since I put it up for sale. Any idea if the 112 is going to be discontinued?

Just buy what u like bah.

Your money you spend you song. Just do not look back and regret not spending the money in a better way. A Patek will not get you laid (trust me. Sad sia. Lol) though.

Cant compare 19yo's now with our time bah; demography all different already.

Short to mid term doesn't look good so it's prob a good time to keep cash. I have mentioned before, we are going thru what many developed nations did. Irrational exhuberence is ruling the day. Rem when the ang mos and japs were flocking to sg to buy watches, branded stuff etc? Now its the other way round. And the jap economy has never recovered since.

You also wun wear it much during NS. Perhaps a sporty pam is better? Basic submersible and save the rest of the money.

20k is a lot of money. There are more rational ways to spend it. A watch isn't one of them.

Yeah I see where you're coming from on the Sub part. Perhaps I was over enthusiastic :o
