well... even though FM gained the status of a "manufacture" in 2006, but for certain components, I'm sure the company still needs to get from other watch manufactures like JLC, ALS and PP or even from Japan

Source? They are not making a lot of watches 40,000 watches a year. I am sure many manufacture even JLC buy jewels from outside vendor. Hairspring some company makes their own others generally buy

depends on the individual watch i guess. a few of the chronomaster HEQ classic designs are really very nice, however sometimes Citizen lacks the bling that GS does so well.

that said i have 4 citizens right now and the blue diver i posted looks great on the back, so who knows

if its gems and jewels for decorations, then chances will be buying from vendor...

if its jewel bearings for the plates and bridges... some of these watch companies might be producing synthetic ones in-house...

but i would love to be given a chance to personally visit manufactures

a562140... well, providing full details on their "in-house" movements might not happen so soon...

marketing has always been more on the "feel good" factors. Especially for watch brands which originally don't produce their own movements 100%...
Such as Omega, tag heuer, hublot, cartier, chopard, Frank Muller

So for jeweller brands such as CARTIER, Tiffany & Co, Blvgari, Van Cleef and arpels. It's more of making a fashion statement

On the topic of "in-house" movements, I thought I'd share a very well written piece by Jack Forster from Hodinkee.

Also, to what extent does a manufacture have to go before a timepiece is considered fully "in-house"? Do they have to create their own jewels? Own a gold/steel foundry (rolex)? Own a crocodile farm for their leather straps? Manufacture their own luminous paint?

Ermm, that's not the reason actually. Main reason is because ETA will stop supplying movements and ebauches to watch companies except those in its parent Swatch Group.

My understanding is that ETA will still supply complete movement to non Swatch group companies. But it will no longer supply ebauches instead to manufacturer outside of Swatch group.
Anyway, IWC are already using Sellitta movement in their watches. I dont see why they are worried about shortage of movement. They knew most manufacturers are going in house and pple will find watches with in house movement more appealing and more vfm compared to paying more than $5k for a IWC with ETA.

Can anyone recommend where can I find 21 mm leather strap in Singapore? So far I can only find it at gnomon, but their model is too rugged. Red army doesn't have the 21 mm

Speaking of leather strap...
