So far hv not seen it at any local shops.

Chee Soon Juan's Campaign Watch!

Fans of CSJ have noticed him wearing a beefy, manly, serious looking Diver on rubber strap during his election campaign.

The photo revealed it to be a Casio Marlin Quartz Diver w/ an attractive 6-9-12 dial.

My feeble attempts at google failed miserably. My source said it's a rather old model and maybe not available anymore.

Can anyone please help identify the model? Thanks, folks! :)

Thanks shorty07... it comes from experience.

Buying a suitable gift for our elders is never an easy task. Always need to see things from their stand point...

GS good? Great? Yes! Worth spending 12k on it? Definitely! But only to a small group of people who truly know alot about watches and appreciates it.

The general public impression about Seiko will forever stay this way, unless the CEO of seiko suddenly wakes up tomorrow morning and decides to splash billions of marketing dollar to create a "high class" image on seiko... that's it's "satki"/atas/high class to own a seiko 5
Plus...seiko watches will no longer be sold in bencoolen and low end watch AD.
Only available thru THG/Dickson/Cortina etc

Just coming from a general public perspective.

No can do, bro! No can do!

Liddat will spoil market and put affordable, high quality Seiko watches out of poor uncles like me! :(

Anyway, those in the know around the world have discovered the not-so-secret secret of JDMs liao. :D

Bro...its not a gift...he buying for himself. His 1st ever luxury item. Thats y i want it to b worth his hard earned money. N also make it special. N as i also hv nvr bought any luxury watch, so not sure of the price range.

Thks a lot for all the pointers given by everyone here. Really appreciate it. Hopefully when he decides wat to buy, someone can point me to the right direction to get the best deal.

If can afford to shell out 10 grand plus, just choose Rolex.

No horse run. Honest.

The brand value proposition, image & status is unrivalled. Its design is evergreen, unlike Omega (I happen to like some Omega pieces, but have to be objective here). Even watch nerds acknowledge Rolex's engineering superiority & reliability.

It loses less than other watches when it comes to liquidating it.

New Rolexes purchased from ADs from July 2015 onwards have 5 years warranty.

Buy the best he can afford and enjoy it for the years he has left. No point settling for 2nd best when he's on the home stretch. Can also be passed down as an heirloom.

I will want to own a microbrand one day...but if it cost more than the citizen, id jus get the citizen since it is their own movement in their own watch costing less. Correct me if im wrong with this perception.

Yes...saw his post some wks back. Back dare not ask where he got it from cos no funds to hoot.

Not your average Seiko SKX or even Sumo diver.

1K plus.

No funds to hoot? Poor uncle can definitely identify with that!

That's what watch porn is for! :D

Yup...will get the best wif his budget...but sadly its only 5k. We r not well to do, so 5k is really a lot to spend on 1 item. Actually he will hv more, but i guess he will want to use it on other things.

N u r right abt the heirloom thing. Will b best if able to keep it as heirloom.

well... try explaining to a 66 year old uncle who has basic knowledge about watches, the steps on:
1) how to wind an automatic/self-winding/mechancial watch
and
2) How to maintain & how many days the owner need to re-wind an automatic/self-winding/mechancial watch so that it will tick constantly

and see at the end of the day which type of watch the FIL will choose

Such problems only beset watch nerds with a herd of watches to corral.

Most one watch guys won't appreciate our "problem", roflmao.

Why? Cos they wear that one watch every day! :D
