To most of you who have like more than 10 watches, don't you find that having to keep setting the time... a little troublesome, especially if you rotate the watches?
Okay, hope you all don't mind some 2-cents from a watch noob :)

Don't say guru lah. We are all watch enthusiasts. Welcome to our humble abode :)

I make a point to wind my watches every day in the morning. Very soothing feeling. I don't have 10 though. Maybe 5. But a range of dress to sports models for different occasions.

Trust me, once you are in the watch game...there's always time to wind them!

Those with screw in crowns... do you screw them in when you are not wearing them?

This is not true.

It's not produced in-house and still sourced from another company that clones ETAs (Valanvron?). And given the cost, definitely with a higher % of chinese parts given that "Swiss Made movements/watches" just needs a min of 60% Swiss manufacture and assembly within Switzerland.

Not to detract from the value, of which it is good indeed but one simply has to be cognizant of the fact that watches at this price point (other than the Seiko juggernaut <3 ) do not contain in-house movements nor 80-100% Swiss Made movements.

At this range can try looking at Sinn or Stowa also.

Today it's at 50%, 60% requirement in 2016.
To keep margin high not all company will shoot for 100% unless they can command crazy high price

Steinhart uses Unitas for that pilot,

For those automatic watch with date, put them in a watch winder. Adjust the time if necessary (more than a min difference) in the morning when u put on the watch.

Is a watch winder just something that spins the watch for you? Went Youtube for it and seems like it.

For me is ok. I can wear a "dead watch" and walk to bus stop board the bus. Inside the bus then I slowly wind and adjust my beloved watch hahaha.

Think next time if I ever drive I probably wind it at those long traffic lights haha

Right, setting up a beloved watch on a Monday blues can be quite satisfying :)

i only wear watch when im outside. setting it and winding is up is a joy before heading out to me.

and lets face it, our handphone is prolly the most accurate watch we will ever need. that clock on our wrist is just an accessory with a bonus function of telling time.:s13:

Yep, this is fashion thread anyway right :) I read that the smartphone time is sync to satellite time so it's the most accurate one.

I feel welcome :) Okay, I am getting the watch winding satisfaction day by day already haha.

Thanks all.

Endured hellish traffic jam to johor..
Freaking 3 and half hours between 2nd link bridge to Malaysia customs...
Saw a few cars breakdown making the jam worst.
Pple peeing at the roadside
Entire afternoon burnt.

Reached johor outlets at 6pm plus and straight to the watch shop.
Snagged this aqua terra, no fancy mechanical movement.
quartz version for 7K plus MYR after 10% discount ..

For those interested.
Auto stainless steel versions going for 17K plus MYR before 10%off.
( Co-axial 8500 movement),
master co-axial aqua terra going for 19K plus MYR.

James bond limited edition 23K MYR with no discount at all.

Hardly buy quartz but really dig the look of the watch

Was at Bencoolen to check out a couple of Seiko watches, mainly to check out the prices. One of them, the Seiko 5 SNK series turn out to be too small, so I'm considering the SNZG series instead.

The other watch, the shrouded monster SRP641 turns out to be smaller than I initially thought, and in fact is roughly the same size as my G Shock Mudman. In fact, it was perfect when I tried it on my wrist. All shops seem to be quoting me the same price, which was more expensive than what I found online, so I left empty-handed.

Saw the new baby tunas too, but as they looks too big for me, and is also more expensive, so luckily, wasn't too poisoned lol. Will hoot one day but maybe not this year.

On a sidenote, I've been trying to research up on micro brands and realized that alot of them have models in the 4 digits. Just a question to ask you guys, are you willing to pay 4 digits for a micro brand, especially when you can get a big brand watch for that price?

I think ppl who goes for microbrand are different ppl from going for big brand watch. Real watch enthusiast i think will just buy if they like it regardless micro or big brand.

I do go for both though. But for your qns, if it was me i'm willing.

Well I can understand that. It's just that with my limited knowledge of watches, I can't tell if a watch will be worth it.

I guess the watch hobby is very similar to the audiophile hobby, you have the big brands like Sennheiser, Audio Technica (DON'T MENTION BEATS!!), and you have MILLIONS of micro brands. In fact, my current audio rig is made up fully of micro brands.

I think I just need more time in the hobby to fully appreciate micro brands :D

Does this mean if im looking for the old gen pelagos, can get gd price? The old gen not good?

Haha, who knows, it may end up like so-called "steve mcqueen" rolex explorer II - din sell well in its 1st run, but is a hot collector's item now.

Watch collecting can be strange... what's unpopular now can be popular later.

Movement wise, the new Pelagos may edge out the old because it is "in-house", but the ETA2824-2 (a workhorse of microbrands - at least until Swatch group eventually limits them to their own housebrands) of the old means it can be serviced competently by independents.

And if you like royal blue, then Pelagos 2.0 is it.

Dial wise, I much prefer Pelagos 1.0 as the dial is cleaner (5 liner of the new? I mean, c'mon...!) and there's a lume pip at 3 o'clock.

I will. Whoever brings out the design I like and backs it up with quality I'll get it. Brand name doesn't mean much to some. Example would be I hate the design language of ball, would rather dump it on a micro brand like aquadive. But imo, micro brand are lacking in refinement of the case design. Only exception for me would be halios/aquadive.
