There is no good definition, microbrand and independent watch maker they all sell direct only difference I can tell is cost! Microbrand typically cost under 1-2k whereas independent can go as high as usd$100k

Apart from it's relative novelty, I believe the philosophy of a single hand watch that marks time in increments of 5 minutes is that the wearer is too calm, chilled, serene (and prolly a man of means & leisure) to bother about needing to know the time to the second or even minute.

Only a harried worker is a slave to time.

A wearer of a one-hand watch goes about his business at HIS own pace and is not dictated by schedules nor deadlines not of his own making. While his timepiece measures time ACCURATELY within a narrow range of deviation per day, he need only know what the time is now - approximately.

If you like black dials, have a look at the Seiko SARB033. Watch crystal is also sapphire. More than double your budget at $460 w/GST.

But you get an automatic watch w/ a sweeping seconds hand that keeps going as long as you wear it regularly (won't stop when the battery's dead) and the vibes of a Grand Seiko which costs thousands.

Some solutions the your list of problems are:

1. Invest in watch winders.

2. Buy time only watches so you can save yourself the trouble of re-setting the date.

3. Re-set and handwind the sucker each time your want to wear it.

4. Don't even bother to reset! Want to know the time? Eh, that's what the handphone is for, okay!

Prices is around 570 sgd after discount and conversion.
I rmb I bought mine for 690 sgd after discount in sg.
Saw the white and gold one. It's the shop at the ground level.

I was jus at ksl on fri n sat. Theres 1 shop having discount of up to 60%. The seikos r going at 30%. Didnt look at other brands though. Wif the gd exchange rate, it should b cheaper there.

yea. i think might be looking at the same shop.
the 007 and 009 still more ex than k2. but i didn't see if its J or K series.
