Bro rboyboym we must all internalize bro chickenbackside's good inspirational advice and encouragement!

:s12:

yesyes he sure gives good advice! ;) Sometimes I think it's bad to know so many watch brands when you cant even buy an R now. But still we must have something we like in mind in order to keep moving forward and motivate us in life.

If you just gian the moon picture on the watch.. think this will be even cheaper!

That only shows day/night rather than a true moonphase. But non-watch nerds won't know any better...

Protip: When you finally decide to buy and finalise on the price, do it with the boss (I think his name is Daniel), and not the lady. Based on my personal experience, Daniel gives better discounts. :)

:eek: didnt know he was the boss. he was the one that served me when I was making my purchase there.

everytime I hear people say find Anders, go there that time still thought this guy was anders :s13::s13:

the boss is Anders, a slim guy wearing specs

Be patient, save up another $5K and have a look at the uber classy JLC MUT Moonphase: http://www.jaeger-lecoultre.com/US/en/watches/master-ultra-thin-moon-39/1368420#/t1

That watch on your wrist tells everyone that you're a gentleman of refined taste, class, discernment & charm. :)

Watch nerds around you will not only know you KNOW watches, they know you as a SERIOUS watch person. :D

Watch nerds knows one is serious if you get a FC moonphase too
Gentleman with refine taste, class etc will get roger smith to custom make one for say $200k

On the topic of Rolex and first watch, my take on it (and I convinced myself eventually) is that since this is my first luxury watch, there are a few criteria to meet:

1. Must be brand new
2. Must be something that I can pass on to my kids (if I have one, or two, or..)
3. Must be something that looks timeless
4. Most importantly, must fit within my budget of ~10k

1 & 4 weren't hard to meet, but 2 & 3 were the tougher ones. I was smitten with Pam 312 probably a year or two ago. Tried on the watch.. huge on my 6" wrist. Still lusted for it, while I got poisoned by the louder, mainstream watches like AP ROO (which I'll probably get when I'm 30 or older).

Then I started reading the watch thread when it was in part 6 I think, and saw SKX007 being mentioned. Wasn't expensive, so that became my first ever automatic watch in Dec 2014. Then came along the SNZH craze so off I went to get an SNZH53 with FFF mod. I got an SNZH57 FFF dial, but haven't got down to buying the watch yet so that shall wait.

Started falling in love with divers and contemplated on getting a cheaper alternative - Tudor BB Red. However, refer back to point 2. Then, started seeing photos of SubC online, and thought to myself, think no more, get a Rolex and call it a day. Got a very very good deal at THG in KL (7.9k after GST refund) that I couldn't resist and 9 months after my first automatic watch, I'm a proud (albeit probably a little too kiddish looking) owner of my first luxury watch that fulfils all 4 criteria of mine.

Some may not agree with my school of though, but one man's prada is another man's prata :s13:

No lug holes. Possible to take out the strap once installed?
If you can install it, you can take it out.

How much "give" does the rubber have? That will determine how difficult it is. Usually, it's easy. The hardest part is probably re-installing the original bracelet.
