Definitely worth a second look. Sean is also open to using Miyota and also possibly swiss movements if the customer is willing to pay. Imo, Movas is able to offer a watch that is visually exciting at a decent price point.

I hate it when watch companies only offer products in limited run, it sucks for new potential buyers who got to know the brand late and are interested only in the older models. I like the AG Diver DLC but it's already sold out

Will Sean be open to recreating an old model?

They are not even in the same price range. The jlc owns the Hamilton in every way possible if design is out of the equation.

the wire lug actually has a spring bar inside, so the mechanism is similar to those standard watches with spring bar lugs

Yes. I've been looking for a decently priced and tastefully designed (i.e. without the "Tourbillon" wording on the dial and the gaudy looking 24hr day/night indicator) tourbillon watch for awhile now, oh and also something more casual. Most had the classic case, hands & roman numerals look. I had my eyes set on the Memorigin J-10, but felt that it was too casual. Then I chanced upon this custom design piece from Movas.

I believe if you are willing to pay more, the Chinese can deliver more quality. Most of the movement components comes from China anyways and then they are assembled in Europe. Will keep you guys updated.

well i have a 25-hours automatic calendar watch using a Seagull movement. So far so good. this should be its 4th year already.

Oic... for something different, I probably will go for the Hamilton.

Never tried the Hamilton, tried the Oris.
The bezel turn of the Oris 65 feels abit cheap/plasticky to me. Apart from that , it's perfect.
So if you can get past the bezel, then get Oris!

At the risk of being totally out of my league here with all the high end watch lovers, can I trouble some helpful men to help with my question? I'm looking to buy a watch for my husband who is an assistant GM.

Unfortunately, I am only hoping to spend 1k at most as we are saving up for our home and renovation costs (2years later and we do not want to take any loans), we have yet to go on our honeymoon (due to timing issues and me still being on probation at my new job) and I'm just generally not about spending big money on stuff (I don't even buy branded stuff for myself).

Is 1k enough to get a proper watch befitting of his position or should I consider increasing my budget?

Also could you suggest a few brands I could look at as well that are in this range?

A little background on my husband is that he is not into branded goods as well and his most expensive items on his person is probably the prada wallet and belt that I gave him in the past 3 years. However, he has mentioned that he feels he should get a "proper" watch and joked about getting a Rolex (at least I think he was joking) one day. His last watch was a Seiko that his brother gave him (like I said.. not into brands... ), hope that's enough information.

I know nuts about watches so any and all help would be much appreciated! TIA!
