StarHub to serve up Xiaomi Redmi from 27 February

Singapore, 19 February 2014 – StarHub today announced it will offer the much-talked-about Xiaomi Redmi at all StarHub Shops beginning 27 February 2014. Redmi will be available for $0 on selected StarHub Mobile post-paid plans or $169 with a StarHub Mobile pre-paid bundle.

It didn't exactly say that you get the Redmi Prepaid bundle for $169. It say that you can get the Redmi for $169 with a Starhub Mobile Prepaid Bundle. So far no pricing as to how much this Prepaid bundle would cost. Their lowest prepaid SIM card option is $8. I am not sure if they will let you pick that or only bundle it with the higher $50 SIM card option.

I think that even though Starhub is bringing in the Redmi, it will probably be limited supply. I remember that when the iPhone just came out, although they claim to sell it at the retail price without contract, priority still goes to those who sign up with a plan.

I hope I am wrong here.

Apparently, these limited quantity available today are released from those who booked but failed to make payment within 24hours. Thus it is not new stock coming in.

There should be another round of order come next week. Likely to be before the Telco launch the phone on 27 Feb.

anyone with any idea if the accessories like screen protector and case can be obtained from the service centre or any shops? Quite silly to pay for shipping for case and screen protector since i didnt buy them when i grabbed the phone..

else, may just buy from ebay international.

I think when it is sold in the telco on the 27th, you should be able to get them from the local stores. If proven popular, those stores selling phone accessories will probably bring in the original and compatible accessories.

eBay, qoo10 and aliexpress would be other online sources for them.
