IIRC, there was some problem getting Play Store install when I was trying out the Developer ROM but eventually still managed to get it working.

There is no need to install the full set of Google services, just install those that you need. Personally I removed a number of these useless apps but of course have to retain those core one.

i manage to get the playstore installed.

but i cant install any app, it display " Error retrieving information from server. RPC:S-7:AEC-7 FQL5-PD5O-CULC4 "

I removed my google account and try again still same thing..

An update on rooting my redmi1.

I have successfully root my redmi1.

Step 1.
"en[dot]miui[dot]com/thread-17437-1-1[dot]html"

Download the file HM1SG-TWRP-2.5.0.0-stas2z.zip and rename it to update.zip

Step 2.
"download[dot]chainfire[dot]eu/743/SuperSU/"

Download the supersu APK file

Step 3.
Place update.zip file into the root storage of your phone

Step 4.
Place supersu APK file into the root storage of your SD card

Step 5.
Launch "Updater App" -> Select "Reboot To Recovery" option

Step 6.
Select "Install Update" option -> Select the update.zip file -> Let it run and complete installation

Step 7.
Once installation completes, it will says "Update Success".

From here, remove the battery to shut down the phone.

*Need to remove the battery else it will auto reboot into MI Recovery when you press "OK"

Step 8.
Count to 5 seconds, re-insert the battery.

Hold down the Volume Down Button first, Follow by the Power Button.

It will boot into TWRP Recovery instead of MI Recovery.

Step 9.
Select "Install" option -> Select SuperSu APK file in the root storage of SD Card -> Select "Reboot" option once installation completes

Step 10.
Phone will auto reboot -> SuperSU App will appear in the phone

Step 11.
Download "Root Checker Basic" from the app store -> Use it to verify if the root is successfully or not.

Ran into certain issues after rooting my Redmi 1.

Firstly, processes keeps dying despite wiping all the caches from TWRP Recovery.

For eg. Process.System.miui had stopped and other processes.

As such, tried to reflash the Stock Rom and factory reset but issues still persisted upon fresh ROM/reset. *Factory Wipe is a success*

Secondly, tried to reload Stock Rom but faced with error.
*Stuck at Data Tab* No specific error code.

Lastly, gave up on flashing the Stock Rom but tried on Factory Reset. After reboot, the phone goes back to the same condition as if the factory reset didn happened.

When I plugged in my redmi to my windows desktop, it only shows the external sd card partition.


I recalled that usually it would show both the external sd card and the default phone storage.

However, when i boot into TWRP recovery, I am able to see the phone storage under emmc partition.

Any idea what happen or the cause of this?

Install Mi PC Suite and use the provided File Explorer to access, it is much more stable than accessing directly from Windows File Explorer.

The voice+data SIM card is already in slot 1, but it is displayed as SIM2 in the Redmi.

Not sure how to check the Miui version, but under Settings>Phone, it shows that the phone is running on Miui-JHBMIBF19.0(??) .. think it is V5...

Just realised I have not update the kind souls who responded to my help.

Went telco to change to a new 3G/4G SIM card, and all problems solved!

Help!! I just hand itchy upgrade my redmi 1s to the latest miui v7...i think....now the battery level seemed to drop very fast.....i left it on my work table ......3 hrs....then 81% drop to 8%!!!! Previously using old miui dun hv such problems.

bo leh, my Redmi 1s left for few hours like two hours untouched battery didn't drop that extreme, at most around 5% to 8%

First, I suggest you check what apps are using the battery - access permissions change with major OS and app upgrade. Of course, the battery can be old and faulty too.

Possible too, my first battery already almost in uplorry stage(battery sometimes drop damn fast, sometimes okay), but heng i still got another spare battery

Ok....update....i off the phone last night and took out the batt....batt looks ok....let the phone cool down.....pop the batt in n power on.....charge until full.....
This phone not so hot liao.....n morning bring to office....can retain charge....off work still got 80% . Looks like back to normal.

If battery still drain can try to wipe the dalvik cache. If your old ROM was MIUI6, upgraded to MIUI7 is consider a major change. Better to wipe the cache after installation.
