is there a step i missed? this is what i did:
1. select update.
2. system reboot to TEAMWIN.
3. select update. select the file from download_rom directory on my sd card.
4. verifying zip signature...
5. checksum failed.

is there anything wrong?

try to select the "restore to default" and uncheck the #checksum box"at TWNP. I got this problem too on my rooted Nexus 7 previously, always getting checksum failed during installation.

Can try to googling and check, my previous problem was checksum failed instead of unable to find the sys file.

I want to warn everyone NOT TO BUY from Booth 410, CH2. . They are selling a Redmi 1 and they are passing it off as a Redmi 1S. I bought it at $198 and the staff constantly told me and reassured me that it's a 1S.

I stood there and doublechecked again and again and it's only until I use Antutu Benchmark and CPU-Z that I confirmed that the phone is a Redmi 1. I immediately demanded my refund.

Warranty is "1 year" but it's from the retailer, so technically no warranty. BE WARNED!

TL;DR: DO NOT BUY from Booth 410, CH2.

Very odd. Didn't encounter any problem for my rooted Redmi - There is this part which asked whether u want to backup apps or data (something like that) b4 the flash process. I selected yes. When in Teamwin recovery page, selected backup box. Then after that things went smoothly.

Only buy from xiaomi sg or telcom.

Who knows that booth might sell fake redmi.

So after u upgraded yr redmi, I guess u lost root right? How did u get it back again?

I'm still sticking to ver 12 cos it worked with framaroot but duno if the new versions can still be rooted by framaroot?

I once read that XiaoMi has "weekly friday O/S or software updates", how about do I sign up for it?
ie Beta Testers? or OTA / auto ?

Which telephone shop will you recommend to get XiaoMi screen protectors / protective case ?

No telecom at SG Tech Show at Suntec City. Get it from official telecom shops.

Weekly update is for developer only.
