delid or stock does not show u which paste is better and worse direct die prefer LM to work more effectively

The IHS on AM5 is a huge bottleneck to the heat transfer.

For the purpose of testing thermal paste, a delidded chip will be ideal because the thermal transfer efficiency with the IHS removed is going to be way higher.

What's the paste that you would recommend right now? For longevity and performance
currently based on the paste that i have i would specifically consider 2 in term of easy application :

1st: Kooling Monster KOLD-01 (2024)
2nd: MX-6

Below is the performance reading on PC Mark 10 of both using the same bios setting (do note i have active SOC/uncore OC active in bios so the idle temperature will be higher than usual which give my use case profile a better gauge on paste performance):

Green: Kooling Monster KOLD-01 (2024) - when pc start with hwinfo idle temp show 48c
Orange: MX-6 - when pc start with hwinfo idle temp show 50c

both have very similar performance however Kooling Monster will give slightly better score and the frequency will goes idle faster when in the interval of test.

Alr know about it... just hesitant on buying it cuz idk how to apply :ROFLMAO:

Recently just bought that... next time i repaste will be trying that out

  1. cut to size
  2. freeze for 30mins
  3. peel off 1 side of film
  4. stick it on the IHS or coldplate (easier)
  5. peel off the other film
cutting it larger makes peeling off film easier
cutting it smaller is fine
if it tears, don't worry. just patch it up

it's that simple

It is not hard to apply it. After I used PTM7950, I've not really been using any other thermal compound. It is expensive, but since I don't really meddle with my PC nowadays, I think it is worth the money. Thermal performance appear to be better than SYY 157 and Thermalright TFX be it on the die itself or on desktop CPUs.

I am looking to switch to PTM7950 but there has been alot of fake PTM7950 on the market. Anyone knows a reliable source to get it as I might be rebuilding my GPU after a year since I have to drain out my coolant. My temps with TFX is within 5 degrees from the day I put everything together fresh but PTM7950 seems to be a better alternative this time around. Thanks in advance.

I got the same one as shared by Mach 3.2, I bought a 80x80 piece back then, currently using it for my laptop, desktop, and even router.. basically everything. It's been nearly 2 years since then.

For application, the easiest way is to use the left end of the halberd by ifixit to lift the plastic films.

Thanks for the headsup Bro. I think I will get a few pieces to stock up and tear down my 4090 to apply this once I receive it. Hopefully no issues.

I got mine from a store on Lazada, VKTech Official Store. I can't verify if they sell legit PTM7950, but after applying it and observing stable and lower temps than any of my thermal compound, I am happy with the purchase. Its been many months since I applied it and temperature still looks good.

I have no experience with Kryonaut Extreme really unable to comment, hopefully other who used before can share their experience. :)
