When I went to pharmacy to ask about nizoral and minoxidil, i was recommended to use Pregaine Clear Gel shampoo instead of nizoral even though they did sell nizoral. Anyone know about this Pregaine shampoo? Or any sifu can advise me?

ziyofoo:

you might want to use proscar to save you money. infact, tons of money.

scorpy81 and HmMmMm:

pregaine shampoo is design by the same company as Rogaine so call for use with Rogaine to clear and prevent any build up on your scalp that might "block" minoxidil from getting into your scalp. also, it suppose to add some "volume" to your hair.

i will say use nizoral or just any other cheap shampoo will do. no real benefit from using pregaine. pharmacy will always recommend pregaine as they will follow text book science. that what they recommend me too when i got my very first bottle of rogaine years back. they know jack about nizoral helping in your hair loss as it is not text book science.

i have no idea. i can't find it in NTUC as well as any information of it online.

but this is the cheapest emu oil i have even hear of. every good brand price is alot higher than it. if it is suitable, that is great.
i think its only available @ larger NTUCs that has the 'Australian Pavillion' section.. where they sell products from Aussie all bunched together.. so far i only know Bukit Timah Plaza NTUC and Junction 8 NTUC got sell..

Bukit Timah NTUC seems to have the widest range of G&M product.. the one at Junction 8 doesnt seem to hold stock of the pure 100% emu oil (either that or i didnt search hard enough)..

as for information on the product it looks just like the one in the link without 'papillion' word:

Thanks for replying Isopropyl.

What the pharmacist told me was pregaine is used to stop hair loss due to oily scalp while nizoral is only useful for hairloss due to dandruff problem (and it actually help control dandruff problem only which basicly lead to hair loss; which she meant that nizoral does not really help control hair loss).

I don't really have dandruff problem. So would still nizoral help in controlling hair loss? Or try pregaine?

Just need to get more insight in this. Thanks sifus.

oily scalp alone will not cause hair loss. if this is the case, those poor people that stay on the street will all be bald. indirect factor like providing an enviroment for bacteria, infection etc might be the cause if due to oily and dirty scalp.

if this is true, any shampoo will get the job done isn't it? all shampoo get rid of oil.

Nizoral not only keep your scalp healthy and free from dandruff but also a few study suggest it have mild anti-DHT effect.

it is one of the few shampoo that might do something for hair loss.

this is not written on the bottle as it is not FDA approve.

growell and rogaine have the same ingredient. there is no reason why the result will be different. are you having different result?

anyway, i just started Dr. Lee PPG free standard minoxidil today. wish me luck. haha...

2% is over the counter so you'll have to ask for them. I believe 1% is off the shelf. most pharmacy should have, you can try guardian.
