Thanks for sharing. I need to share my number here and tell me what you guess, normal or not.

During shampoo, 5-25 (number depend on how i massage, with thumb etc or nails) ok, i know nails is bad.
Morning when i wake up, any number from 3-10. (average is around 3-5)

Does this rate seems normal atm?

1 more qn: do yu get this kind of drop rate in a sudden or you will start with the number i have above.

I do appreciate you a lot on sharing this.

Before my surgery, I usually wake up to have about average 5-7 hairs on my pillow. When I shampoo, I usually see about 10-15 hairs on my hand. I like to use my finger nails to scratch when shampooing because I feel itchy. This rate of 10-15 hair changes with time. Sometimes more and sometimes less.

After my surgery, I just run my finger through my hair with shampoo from fore head to back 3-4 times with my fingers and I get more than 30 hairs. I consistently get as many hair falling for past 2 months.

Unless you really count the hair on your hand after shampoo, you won't be able to estimate properly when the hair count is more than 10 because you will be emotionally frustrated to see the hair loss. Moreover some of the fallen hair may not be on the hand but among the shampoo on the head. It will be even harder to estimate the number of hairs that are washed away by the water during rinsing. I suspect to be much more.

I don't know the "normal" rate of hair fall. If your hair can replace the fallen ones, I think it should be ok. I had a colleague who went for chemo. When I visited his house, his floor are littered with hair. After he stop his chemo, he has more hair than I do.

I do get a gradual increase in hair fall a few weeks prior to my surgery. But I don't remember the side and back hairs are also falling at high rate.

My doctor says the hair loss is due to my body concentrating its nutrient to repair the wounds and prescribe multi vitamins for me. Don't work after taken for 2 weeks. Just because of what he says, I take 2 eggs every morning for the past 2 months. Also never work.

Now I hope to grow the hair back. Hope that the hair roots are not destroyed by the fungus.

IC, you are not having mpb. Your case is body stress due to surgery. The hair usually grow back after your body recover. You can probably relax a little. ;)

Propecia to Avodart?

Hi guys, I been using propecia for 2mths 3 weeks already. Hair fall seems to be reduced, i.e. when shampooing, each time only drop <5 compared to bout 20 before. However, my hair is still thinning from the sides, top and front.
Experience those small, thin hair grow only because of minoxidil...
Thniking of switching over to Avodart since it is a better source of DHT blocker. Anyone used propecia and experience good results can share? Else I guess I will need to use Avodart liao :(

Hi, have read the entire thread and benefit from it guys. Just bought regaine at guardian and just try it. it will be my first step/drop ....

Have a upcoming NSC appt this feb, will ask for propecia.. or guys, anyone has proscar or anyone dont mind buying for me if going to thai or jb? i dont mind impotent now, as long as i look normal for my age, that is 26. perhaps few years to come, i will go for transplant.

anyway was feeling very depressed these few days as i only noticed my hair thinning problem to be obvious and a bit sudden for me to accept. but am glad that there are some ways to cover for now while i start the medication.

hope you guys dont get depressed too, we should encourage one another as we combat our own balding problems.

People tend to care more on the outside than inside.

But i need someone help in my question.
I cannot figure out how come i am sort of experiencing hair thinning also. I may not have mpb but my scalp is very obvious under light. (the whole crown).

I look at my dad at 50+ years old, he has very healthy amount of hair.

I was chatting with my sister just now and she is experiencing hair thinning. (7 years older than me) She told me that my brother (5 years older than me) is experiencing hair thinning too. His case is like MPB already, with thinner and lesser hair at top + rear area.

I read before somewhere that even if my uncle has mpb, i may have it too. Now it may be confirmed that my mother has fpb, how may it affect me? Will i get mpb?

ps: i am still unsure how my hair is dropping but my top crown is obvious already though.

scientifically proven that the balding gene comes mostly from your mother. so look at your mom's side of the family and rely on the information more.

one good way to know if you really have mpb is to observe your front hairline, most if not all mpb have receding hairlines. but dont fret too much, sometimes, its just the genetic material that codes your hair. if you have a family history of thin hair (NOT hair thinning) then chances are you may inherit that gene as well. thin hair is NOT hair thinning.

cheers.

it's usually a case of receeding hairline at the front first? Is there mbp of normal hairline at the front but a hole at the back?

Sorry for creating a comdation at this thread because i drop almost 0 hair during shampoo now, not sure if it's due to the food and stress in china. i dont bleed when i sh1t now too.

well, it depends. some have receding hairline at the front first, some lose hair at the top. but generally receding hairline generally is a early-mid symptom of mpb.

The revivogen sounds good.... Anyone tired it before?? If it does the same thing as propecia and without the side effect then that will be a more definite choice.

i think maybe some of us can try Revivogen

http://www.hairlosstalk.com/interact/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=43811&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

link above has ppl saying it's useful to them

really tempting

from what i read, revivogen performance range from it helping a bit, do nothing to losing more hair. just like almost any treatment.

it have been around for many years and the recent study about it bring back some attention to it. there is some doubt around the study.

personally i think it might be helpful as there are some evident behind it ingredient. but don't expect too much. revivogen is nothing new. also, the price is horrible expensive. from review, it leave your hair very oily so it can only be use during nite time.
