btw you should go do weightlifting or some other outdoor hobby to get your mind off the hair. Worrying over the hair is only going to make it fall out more. build some other area of confidence in your life... anyway the hair is only less than 10% of our overall body.

Hmm ok.. i tot weightlifting increases test, not dht..
finasteride in a higher dosage is used to treat prostate enlargement. Propecia is 1/4 of that dosage. I dont think that fin causes cancer.
breast enlargement is due to reflex hyperandrogenicity., which happens in a rare number of individuals only. And no, it doesnt make your chest look like a womans.
fin cause higher cancer risk in elderly. it quite safe for young people as far as i know.
serious risk like gyno is low. but minior one might be higher than wat merck want you to know. thankfully most does go away after sometime.

hi guys i am suffering from thinning of hair and i am very worried i read about the medicines that block this DHT hormone.
However i was wondering this hormone i read from WIKIi plays a crucial role in both sex drive and the growth of muscle tissue. Since i am into bodybuilding and weightlifting will it hamper my muscular results? Is there any other medications that work in a different way other than inhibiting the hormone?
Another question is how do u guys suspect hair loss due to oily scalp? It seems my forehead and top region is oily but my back n middle of scalp is normal. I am suspecting i have a oily scalp.
Where should i seek help 1st? Should i go to National Skin Centre to have a look. I am afraid they could only offer the medication that mess with the DHT hormone.

Finasteride / proscar has negative side-effects including a direct link to a increase in prostate cancer risk.
According to a 1999 clinical study conducted by the prestigious Norris Cancer Institute of the University of Southern California (USC), men who take this drug have their prostate cancer risk increased 300%

The studies do not indicate that finasteride causes cancer directly. As it is originally a drug used to reduce prostate size, it reduces Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA), which is a marker used to test for prostate cancer.
In short, this means that it merely reduces or eliminates the marker when a test is done for prostate cancer. It does not increase your risk of cancer, merely the risk of not detecting it early. The simple thing to do is you should tell your doctor you are taking propecia when you are going to have a test done for prostate cancer, and you'll be fine.

weight lifting really causes balding by producing more DHT? omg thats the only exercise i do! how can i balance the DHT lvl? again food or supplements? or? besides stop lifting weights?

was reading up on this shampoo Nioxin, not sure if its been mentioned before but been using for 3 days already and i see positive results.
Ok my hair was like this when i used silkpro shampoo for oily scalp(purple)
then it made my scalp patchy red and full of dandruff and itchy too
Note: the middle parting is not balding, is just that i pulled the hair apart to see the dandruff, thats all
my not so thick hair is heditary from my mom
but i started using Nioxin, the redness subsided, dandruff going off, hair feels softer and stronger...
